What do you guys think if I painted my cross bars & q-clips like a gloss black/OBP? Kinda like how the fairing is.

I really like that silver Thule bar look but I think it wouldnt look as cool silver on the yakima round crossbars..

Talking about painting, my six year old Yakima king cobras are rusting pretty bad and in great need of restoration .

Can you show a pic with the box on top, but from the side?

I'd like to see how much front overhang you've got.

^nice ride dude. More info on your rack please? I am planning on getting such a rack very soon. My mpg gets hit hard with my current roof rack set up.

If that's in reference to my pics, Yakima crossbars on EZ Rider mounts (discontinued) and a Yakima Holdup. The pics a few posts earlier included Yakima Boa fork mounts. I don't normally run the fork mounts, opting to run the hitch rack instead most of the time. The fork mounts were just for the show ;)

How do you like the Yakima hold up? Any significant side to side movements off-road? Have you ever put fairly big rigs on it?

Very happy with it. If you don't have a hitch yet, I'd recommend going 2" over the 1 1/4". The 2" model will just be that more robust. The 1 1/4" Holdup is rated for max 2 bikes, at 60lbs each. I run 3 trays on a custom setup but none of the bikes loaded weigh more than 30 each.

The Yakima racks come with a threaded hitch pin that allows you to cinch down the rack in the receiver - this greatly minimizes any side to side motion.

If you're looking to purchase, I'd recommend a 2013 model over the 2012 as it has added adjustability to offset the two bikes for clearance at handlebar/seat overlap.

thanks for the feedback. More pictures of that rack would be welcome :). And yeah, I already have a hitch installed but I believe mine is a 1 1/4"..
