drewbabich
I want to replace my front pads on my daily driver 2005 2.5i legacy wagon. All the info on here pertains to GT and performance driving which isn't my priority. I just want to replace with aftermarket oem like pads and I don't want to change or turn the rotor if possible (I don't have any pulsating). I see the oem pads are $90 from the dealer but I don't know if they are ceramic or semi metallic or what. I also think the 2.5i and gt have different pads. I've read that posi quiets are the only aftermarket pads that manufacture there pads via the OEM process which is to bond and melt the pad to the ship rather then glue it on like most after markets. Don't know how true this is, but the pads have excellent reviews.. http://www.autoanything.com/articles/brake-pad-comparison-oem-aftermarket.aspx I'm just not sure if my oem pads are ceramic. Since I'm sticking with the same rotor I want to stick with the same type of pads considering everything is working well and I assume that rotor is acclimated comfortable working with the oem pad material. I just don't know what it is. Any advice. I'm leaning towards the posi quiets. The ceramics can be found on ebay for 41 dollars shipped right now. Low dust isn't really a big deal because I have black rims. I just want smooth braking. (which I have now.)

apexi
Everything I've read suggests the oem pads on my car are ceramic, raybestos, bendix, rockauto, etc. Even when I search pads for the GT, numerous sources state the OE pad material is ceramic. The OEM (from Subaru) are not ceramic. The aftermarket suppliers use ceramics because it's probably less expensive. The names you list above are not what I would call quality! Anyway Hawk Ceramics are great pads, stopping power of the Hawk HPS with the quiet and dustlessness because they are ceramic. -mike
