Cutout in trunk

I found this cutout in the trunk of my LGT sedan. Could this be used for an aftermarket subwoofer?

Subwoofer is designed to be under the drivers seat. The cut out is for the McIntosh factory upgrade with I believe 12 speakers total or something like that was possible. Two in the rear doors, two on the rear deck, 3 on each of the driver doors (next to mirror, tweeter location, and the big one in the bottom), one speaker in the middle of the dashboard, and the subwoofer in the bottom of the drivers seat.

 

I wouldn’t put a subwoofer back there, but you can probably put regular speakers in that spot and cut holes in the rear deck fabric.

I think that's where the factory HK sub is in my '09.

That is for the factory Harmon Kardon subwoofer. The amp is under the passenger side seat.

You could put an aftermarket subwoofer in there. Before you spend any money, though, make sure the woofer you buy is designed to run "infinite baffle." Also a good idea to make sure it clears those black crossbars

Did anyone ever try this? I have a 09 legacy with the HK system that has the woofer in the trunk but I have no clue how to get it out and I'm trying to replace it. Does anyone have any tips on how to get the OEM one out of the rear deck?
