Legacy1717
Hello everyone. I have found a Legacy that I think might be a good match for me. What are some of the things that I should look for with this 05 Legacy? Thank you for your help! http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&csDlId=&csDgId=&listingId=122724091&listingRecNum=0&criteria=prMx%3D13000%26sf1Dir%3DDESC%26prMn%3D0%26mkId%3D20041%26stkTyp%3DU%26mdId%3D21378%26rd%3D30%26crSrtFlds%3DstkTypId-feedSegId-mkId-mdId-pseudoPrice-transTypeId%26zc%3D60010%26rn%3D0%26PMmt%3D1-1-0%26stkTypId%3D28881%26sf2Dir%3DASC%26sf1Nm%3Dprice%26sf2Nm%3Dmiles%26isDealerGrouping%3Dfalse%26transTypeId%3D28112%26rpp%3D50%26feedSegId%3D28705&aff=national&listType=
SubyDude81
Seems ok since some things were already replaced maintenance wise. If you do decide to buy I would take it to a mechanic and have them look it over and make sure no issues. I personally don't like to buy cars that are modified. Legacy1717
Thank you! I will keep that in mind when looking at it. If anyone has any other suggestions or comments I would love to hear them. Thank you.
Legacy1717
Are there any issues with 2005 Legacys that I should look out for in particular?
jp233
Wait. Timing belt at 63K miles? That is very early, that is a 105K mile item. So something went wrong where they needed to remove the t-belt anyways (water pump, oil pump, an idler pulley or the tensioner...... or something much worse like head work or shortblock work etc) or the guy was just super anal or something like that, or really wanted to spend unnecessary money. For any EJ255/EJ257 out there, I'd require a documented compression and leakdown test at the absolute minimum, by an independent source (not the seller). Then there are lots of other common things on these cars.... control arm bushings, clutch bearings, radiators, stock TMIC, then there's the turbo.... Do some searching and browsing and you will find a ton.
Legacy1717
Yeah he said he had it replaced for preventative reasons...so I dont know if thats sketchy or not. That aside, what do you think is a fair price for this considering it needs new tires and has quite a few door dings on the drivers side :/ I really need some help guys! I am having a really hard time with this decision.
