Project NRR - No Rulz Racing 06 LGT Build (5MT)

So here is a little story, I came from a 2004 STI tuned by Graham in Chicago that put down 348 AWD power with tons of parts, and I miss it every day. Next I had an XRT tuned 08 2.5i Legacy with every possible suspension mod and jdm parts on the planet.

Next I had a 2006 Outback Limited, loved the car and sold it with 216K miles. I still see it on the road in my area. Next I had my 09 external gate nasty girl WRX. She looked great, classy, always waxed, people loved her, but under all that shine she was a dirty girl. No one would run me when they herd the external gate scream in my town. I was lonely among the subie people.

I have currently my wifes 13 2.5i CVT slug, My daily 2010 Taurus and the ALL MIGHTY 06 Legacy GT Limited 5MT that I found on Facebook market place.

I found this car on Facebook and thought it was a 2.5i and was like no F-ing way, I need to get back into the turbo Subaru world. I scrolled through 2 pictures and saw the hood scoop, then the 5MT and it was love at first site and meant to be.

I picked up Iris (Her name), leaking oil, sounding like marbles in a tin can, car smoking like a chimney in the winter, but had no check engine lights and drove so well. Below is the list of parts I have in my car and garage Floor. Car will go to Ecotech in Saint Louis April 20th. This place is world class shop. Car will be on base tune to break in clutch/fly and short block. I hope you all follow this process. I will be making updates as I get new things on the car and the 91/93 new tune.

So the car is bone stock, driven by a women (cuite pie), that had kids. Props to her for driving a 5MT LGT, She said it was her baby and she wanted it to go to a person that would take care of it. Orginal plan was to just drop a stock motor in it and be done, but a buddy reminded me thats not what we do. So Below is what I have for the car, which is way more then I thought.

I know I am forgetting some So I will add as I go. I will add pics also.

Prolly don’t want to run straight Dom series race oil in the car for a few reasons. The additives in Dom, mainly the high zinc content, will eventually ruin your DP cat as it’s not meant to be used on cars with cats, just race cars on track that are cat less. Also Dom doesn’t have a lot of the detergents that keep the oil stable and motor healthy over long periods of time, i.e.- in a daily driver. Race teams change the oil after every event or so, so this isn’t an issue. Amsoil Signature Series would be a good option for a daily. As a middle ground, I run a 4 to 1 ratio of Signature series to Dom on my track car. Can’t afford to change the oil after every track day, but want a bit more zinc to keep the rod bearings happy. Only run straight Signature series in my Outback daily

^^^ I use zddp additive from autozone when I can't get the old formula chevron turbo diesel oil. Gives the zinc and other happy chemicals you need.

If you DD race oil, get an account with blackstone and buy the test kits in bulk. Do the analysis every change until you find the right oci. Mine is about 600 miles unless track day, then its 24 hours.

Hey thanks for letting me know, My prev WRX ran Dom, but I only put 2400 mile on it in the 2 plus years I owned it . I have to order some severe gear, so I might do the mix also Being a dealer for 10 years and have many customers, My price is very low compared to most buying it.

BTW prev owner of the WRX was my best friend and it only saw SS series Amsoil

can actually get the kits if I just call the number amsoil gives it long time dealers. I am going to do that once the car is back to me.

boxkita, yo ever think about series 3000 heavy duty diesel Amsoil. I have a few LGT guys that run it and love it.

tbh Ive never tried anything else. Amsoil always seems to be priced at redline levels. I wait for the gallon jugs to be on sale then buy out the store. With the change to "API CI-4+" , finding suitable oil is getting harder. Hence buying a case of zddp to improve the oil.

I use 15/40 API CI-4 from chevron. I haven't seen it for sale in awhile

Here is my Acura RSX TypeS, it was so clean, bought it with high miles, and it ran great. Had Hondata ECU on 96 8700k redline, and the Vtec poped so loud with AEM cold air intake, K-tuned 400 dollar full billet shifter ass. I l LOVED the wing on this car. These cars are so much fun. I kinda want a 2000 Civic SI again.

Here are some part I had in the corner, I do not want to forget these babies when I leave lol.

Here she is. Iris started right up with no problem, made a bit of racket, and smoked some. Tires are aired up. She has some dings and scrapes but looks nice with not having a bath since I got her. I will clean her up and add the new wheels and coil overs after I get the car back. I only will take some of the gap out.

I did clean the headlights and polish them months ago.:) It might look saggy butt bt the car is full of parts to the inside roof lol.

so the engine work is all done? Confused:)

haahaah  No that is just me backing it out of my garage where it has been on a battery tender for on and off a year plus. That's the stock motor that's not happy. Well turbo is not happy but it sound healthy motor wise, for what it is..

I had to clean up the garage, put more parts in the trunk and back seat.

Car gets trailered to the shop 3 hours away on April 20th:spin:. Amsoil order comes in today, and hangers come later this week.

  • 2 weeks later...

So here is my Old 04 STI, I miss her so much, she was fast, raw, broke down on me many times, left me stranded 2 times but started up and got me home. I learn many things about Subaru and what to look for when buying them. I would take her any day still, sold it with 56k miles, kid blew it up 4 months later. This car taught me what turbo subies not to buy.

My motor, with the Legendary Kakimoto race chamber Hand made Intake, with ram air Fog light intake. Yes was scared in the rain lol I did keep the air box so it made it like a 2 piece and would suck from the ram air.

Now I know you all will flame me but I do not care, this is my first love and I still love them, 93 ford escort LX, this was before the fast and the furious movies. I had 7 For escorts, including E-GTs, and LX-Gs (LX with 5MT GT swaps)

Full battle wing, livery before any of you started doing it, ADR reaction 17s, Visor TV, full system, Kamakizee race headder, Weaponr intake, ebay coilovers that fit a civic lol , full exhaust, so much more.

Remember, this was before car part website, Youtube and the car movies were out, this was 1999, yes I am older then most haha. I STILL LOVE THIS CAR!!!
