Seat heater - too hot

Recommended Posts

My driver's seat heat is super hot, even on the lowest setting. Like burn-my-a$$ after a few minutes hot. I don't know about the passenger seat, I don't have someone in that seat often enough to ask. Car is an '09 OB.

I searched around here and found several fairly old references to a similar issue but no fixes. I wonder if it's somehow the switch itself (having failed wide open?), or if there's some component similar to the fan-speed resistor most cars have to allow the AC blower to run at different speeds.

I'm curious if anyone has managed to deal with this "issue" or if we're all just putting up with it ;)

Any info appreciated.

I find my heated seats in my 09 OB aren't that hot. My 2012's get a little hotter. I have been in some of friends car where they get super uncomfortably hot. I only use heated seat for 5-10 minutes on cold mornings. TO me It seem kind of ridiculous to 4 heated seat settings of luke warm, maybe mine aren't working right. I haven't tried the passenger seat as comparison.

The seat in my 05 is to hot for me, even the Spec I turn off after being on 1 after about 2 miles.

She enjoys the heater on her side for the whole drive.

Now the 18' and even the 16' Outback 3.6R's she complains that the seat seem to never get hot enough. We traded the 16 in for the 18. we don't have two of them, ;)

My first outback got toasty. This one leaves a lot to be desired. I’ve been considering swapping out new elements. I can almost promise that it’s the pads being faulty from separating or moving closer together over time than the switch. Seen it a lot before on other vehicles

When I updated to the STI heated seats, I started missing how hot the Legacy seats got... It's nice therapy for my back pain

The back pain therapy with these heated seats is awesome, try being in canada where it's -10c this morning. Overly hot heated seats are a thing of beauty!

I can definitely relate to this from when I was living in upstate NY. I would rather have my seats be too hot than not hot enough. My BMW F800GT's heated grips get very toasty very fast, and I love that about them :) if only it had a heated seat too!

More information about cold air intakes for subaru wrx is available on the website here.

I have a strange thing happening with the heated seats, after 40 minutes of the trip it turns on, and sometimes not, it's cold outside, it's better hot than none ...
