Red lettering on dash?

This legacy I'm interested in has red lettering on the dash. It made me do a double take because my Legacy when I owned it had white lettering. Anyone seen this before? He says he didn't change it but it sure doesn't look stock to me..

Also it's supposedly a 2006 Legacy GT Limited Wagon in 5spd. I always thought they made the wagons all automatic after 2005? Wondering if there is fishiness going on here

 

Too bad too because almost everything else about the car is nice except for the atlantic blue colour I don't like..

I can't help with the 2006 5MT part but my 2009 LGT dash looks identical. Carfax?

An ‘06 5mt GT wagon in Atlantic Blue?

I would love to see pictures.

 

I’ve read that there were a couple (<10) manual wagons built in 2006, but more for promotions than general availability.

But I’ve never read about one of them in Atlantic Blue.

now i wonder what my lettering color is.

Your in Canada, I believe they still had the 5mt through 2007 ?

 

Just checked my 05 wagon, yep white lettering for the "Legacy"

not gonna lie, that is kinda cool in a subtle way. Might have to get some SMD LED's and swap out the legacy back lighting on my car....if I ever find there is nothing else to do to the car

Here are some pics. I'm liking the mileage but there are some things on there that just throw me off like that lettering, the fact that the headlights are black not silver like the 06s (unless he painted them when clearing) and that fuel door. He said the fuel door cable broke and that's why it looks like that. Anyway I might check this out this week. Gonna get the carfax too.

Certainly get a carfax but they don't show everything. My civic has frame damage from when I put it into a guard rail. But I bent the frame rail back by eye balling it and did the rest of the repairs myself. That's not in the carfax.

 

That fuel door does look odd. Check the panel gapping back there. A little off is whatever but if it's way off. Also maybe look at the frame rail. If it's a shoddy repair they may not have made it look nice, just sprayed it.

 

The lights are less concerning. Unless he's trying to tell you that they are normal lol.

There is also what appears to be rust at the rear quarterpanel wheel well in the gas door picture.

I just replaced my fuel door cable, it broke as well (came with the car like that)

 

It's not bad at all to replace, it'll just need adjusting once you get it in.

Maybe not a true GT? But that fuel door looks bent/twisted as just the bottom is sticking out. And if the cable was broken, wouldn't the whole door not close?

if you stumble while filling your gas tank, you can grab the filler door on the way to pavement. A little bit of twisting and it fits better. Not saying it happened to me...

 

the headlights look cleared. The missing lettering on the back. The dashboard lettering is odd. Unless its a JDM dashboard?

Didn't go through with this one. The rear quarters were rust city. I'll get me my wagon again eventually but it's got to be perfect

Red lettering refers to 2006 model. Not sure if 2007 models have red lettering as well. I have an 05 with white lettering, and an 06 which has red lettering. I asked the same thing when I got it . I have outbacks though. But same thing.

Subaru made 5MT Legacy Wagon GT through 2008 in CA (they are really rare though).

The red actually looks decent!

So as a follow up to this I've been looking at a few different years of cars and it looks like from factory every year from 05-07 has a different guage cluster. 05 is white, 06 is red, 07 gets replaced by the trip monitor screen from the right side which gets replaced by a fuel economy guage. There's some legacy trivia for you!
