video of runs?

I did actually copy them from my dash cam's miniSD card to my PC. Now need to select the ones that actually are runs and put them on Youtube.

I have both front and rear facing cameras that record all the time. Funny enough the rear camera views somehow feel much faster.

Will see what happens tomorrow.

Before I invested in a data logger, I had a bunch of keys and fidget toys on the key ring. My first autox, the camera was on a bracket attached to the passenger seat. It took me awhile to realize the discordant sounds were me driving like crap, as I got better so did the sound.

Eventually I got a logger and converted to a single key.

Someone posted a video mounted on the splitter. With sound it pretty awesome.

Autox-ed today with my middle son - his NA Miata on coilovers and stock power, mine Stage 2 LGT Wagon with STI 6 spd swap. He was run group 1 and I was run group 2.

Previous time my LGT started smoking like crazy when I started it for the PM run - white smoke clouds were visible from the field. I chickened out from running PM session, but then car made it home fine and was smoke free for 2 months or so.

Today I paid more attention and found that I drive by engine sound - put it simple I put it in 2nd on autox course and drive it through. Worked fine with stock 5 spd tranny. However, with (240K on he engine) and STI shorter gear ratios engine sits at 6.5K RPM pretty much at red line. So for the PM runs I popped it in 3rd, and with 16G there is plenty of torque to get out from most of corners easily. Actually biggest problem ended up being that I carried too much speed getting into slaloms and Chicago box when in 3rd.

Accounted for that and did successful "Respect the elders" last run besting my kid's time by 0.125 seconds :)

Car smoked a little (relatively) all the way through Ayer but then we made it home fine.

Videos should be on dashcam's card but I will deal with that tomorrow.

Good times.

350. Thinking a 235/40 tire for them and run them this winter. Leave my BBS just for summer

I have 235/40's on my RPF1s. For a car at stock height I'd entertain Rebourne's setup, though he's in an Outback and I don't know how similar your Prodrive specs are to his wheel setup.

I resprayed my rust repair with "color matched" paint, lol. First, it wrinkled on top of the paint from last week and I had to sand everything back to primer, second, it looks more like Newport Blue* than Atlantic Blue. Oh well.

I also dropped my 10-mm inside the rear quarter and spent two sessions fishing it out. Finally got it with two magnets, one flexy, and one telescopic. I am probably more happy about fishing out the socket than the paint.

*The darker color actually looks nicer, I'd say. Maybe that is what I'll get it repainted with when I get the panel cut out.

Youtube is still 'processing' but this seems to work:

Ignore the date/time stamp, the battery in dashcam does not hold anymore so it resets back to default often.

Trying again with Youtube. Apologize for short videos, dashcam battery is no good and it resets to defaults which is 1 minute for the video.

In hindsight I should have stitched some videos together but that's an improvement for next time. Or just find some cheap GoPro.

Finally found my front end clunk. My inner tie rods had rotted and were exceptionally clunky. Apparently, moisture had seeped into the boots, causing everything to rust and seize. Replaced them, got the car aligned and everything's good again. Thought it was the steering bushings.

Awoke her from her long slumber two weeks ago. The fuel pump wouldn't run until I cleaned up all the terminals. Once she was driving I filled her up and noticed a gas leak so I replaced the fuel pump gasket. The fuel gauge would only go up halfway and found that the sender gasket had wrapped itself around the float, so I tossed the old and installed a new one.

She woke up with two bad wheel speed sensors - I remember giving her an undercarriage wash just before our first big freeze last year. Also, the HVAC controls are not lighting up, nor are they lighting up on the Highline Audio Double-din I had stored away, I think the problem may be the HVAC control module by the blower. Replacement on the way from LGTmakes3's part-out.

Motor feel strong, she's getting back to running shape. Still breaking rust off the rotors. I'm going to be laying off everything except routine maintenance for a while. She's spent more time on the QuickJack than on the ground since I got her.

I used race render in the beginning to fix my videos. It allows stitching and side-by-side along with data - https://racerender.com/Products/index.html

Any autox run that concludes with laughter is an automatic win.

Running in 3rd gear slows your exit speed from a feature. I read your reasons why. If you are bringing too much speed into a feature, perhaps limiting your top speed will reduce the amount of braking required. Giving a faster time with less braking/acceleration.

Yeap, agree with all points you are making. This was my first time trying in 3rd, mainly out of fear of blowing the motor, and I was surprised how much power I retained when trying to get out of features. Next thing is to work on speed control carrying the car around the run in 3rd so I don't kill the momentum too much slamming the brakes and unsetting the car.

best advice I ever got was to go fast as you can without using the brakes. Granted its not that fast, however, it focuses you to maintain the momentum.

The other thing that helps is make lots of runs on the same course with video/data logging. The more scientific yer approach the faster you'll be.
