Can I pop out this dent?

Recently my car suffered a hit and run and got a pretty good sized dent in the rear bumper. My insurance deductible is way to high to be worth paying.

I've heard of people popping out dents with a heat gun. I've also heard of people using a hair dryer and CO2.

I'm kind of afraid the dent might be too big though. Any thoughts?

You'll have to take the bumper off

most-to-all bumpers require the removal of tail-lights and trunk carpet molding to get to all of the screws.

Once off, take the bumper inside and place on a cushioned carpet, heat with hair dryer moving in circles, do NOT keep it in one place - then with either a baseball bat or something similar, wrap a towel around the end and put pressure to pop out CAREFULLY!

i do not take responsibility for the end results - this is the method I have used for my rear bumper and worked for me, but may not work for you -

The dent is extremely noticable in the daylight. As long as I can make it not as noticable I'll be happy. It doesn't have to be perfect.

I'm going to attempt to fix it this weekend. I'll post pics of what the end result is.

I took the rear bumper off late Friday night. Took a blow dryer to it and some muscle, this is what I came up with.

It's barely noticeable. I was relieved at how easy it was to fix it.

Absolutely great work - glad it turned out so well. Rear bumper cover corner dents are the most common; it's amazing what people will spend to remove them or replace when all they have to do is spend a couple man hours on removing, fixing, putting back on.

Again, great job there.

man I'm a little late I see but I was going to reiterate what everyone else said, heat gun or blow dryer, take your time and it will be hard to tell. I helped one of my friends do this with a loaner car while his car was in the shop and someone clipped the bumper in a parking lot.

looks great!

Very, very slight dent. The paint shows no sign of the damage, I don't know why the paint looks faded in that pic. Probably has something to do with my crappy Iphone camera.

Unless I tell them the car was hit there, most people wouldn't even notice.
