Here's mine:

Tein Flex Z (lowered above the tire), Whiteline KTA124/KCA313

Volk TE37 17x8 +44 235/45R17.

Rears fit fine (no rubbing, but rolled anyways)

Fronts rub even after rolling on hard dips (hits the area that clips the front bumper onto the fender).

Got these wheels with these tires, will go down to 225 all around which should solve the rubbing.

Well if I got a dp, I'd like to get a grimmspeed limited and coated one. Plus a tune. At full retail that's about 1k. Coil overs would be limited to 1.2k so about the same. Can't afford super sweet kw coil overs nor will I be buying new wheels.

Yea my debate is how low to go and leggy wagon pics def help. I'll look through all those links thanks. Was just having a hard time finding lowered wagons and how low. Not trying for stance but would be interested to see what say, 5 inches from stock outback height looks like.

yea u can! a lot faster. Coils just makes things better but sway bars and bracket, end links, bushings need to improve as well. And for the awesome coils you have to drop like 2k+. These suspensions kinda suck, but its workable. Edited by Tehnation

Well currently I've got whiteline 22/20 sways with Kaet boy end links, just did spec b aluminum rear lateral links with a camber bushing, I'd like to get aluminum trailing arms and control arms.

But I'm getting a front end clunk on compression, and a lot of rear spring oscillation at highway speeds. I definitely need lca bushings but I'm pretty sure my dampers are wearing out. And I'm on michelin defender tires, which is probably my real issue lol.

looks like you'll end up with both at the rate your going lol.... so in that case I would get what you need now, probably some struts/coils.

LCA bushings are very important, probably the most important. I bought mevotech aluminum control arms( like the ones on the spec b) from amazon or rock auto for a great price. that came with new bushings, ball joints etc. for like a 100 bucks a piece. Granted I have the better whiteline poly bushings to press in, I figured I would wait until they go before going through the hassle of pressing out perfectly good new bushings. You get aluminum control arms, and new bushings at the same time. Just throwing that out there.

Yep that's exactly my plan, but also to swap out the ball joints for the whiteline roll center ones. Ask this initially came up because I was debating outback vs legacy gt suspension. But I know that febreeze is basically at the end of the adjustment in their coils and I originally wanted an lgt wagon anyway.

Maybe one day I'll have the ridiculous wide body, vented hood and fenders, sweet wheels and tires, built block etc. I think my answer though for now will be legacy height coils when I do get them.

Coilovers vs dp? And yer trying to find something in the 1k price range?

Coilovers done right is not 1k, because you need all the bushings and misc parts too. Depending on how low you drop, you need the steering parts too. Nvh will be higher too. Like lose the touring wagon feet for the sti feel. 30k miles on coilovers is end of life. Yeah, ppl drive them way longer, but ppl shoot their toes to kill a bug on their boot, too. Its a race inspired part. On a race car, coilovers get serviced every couple thousand miles.

dp will "require" a tune. Along the way, you'll have to replace some parts just because.

If you haven't done the obxt to lgt suspension conversion, Id do that first. Highly recommend buying new struts & cartridges tho. 200k suspension components for a sport wagon are way beyond end of life.

So the coil over is more for aesthetics than performance. So I was looking at entry level coils like feal, bc racing, etc. They run about 1.2k brand new but I didn't think I needed new top hats or bushings with them. At about $400 for rebuild every two to three years, I'm OK with the cost. I want to go to at least lgt height and figure I'll need a roll center kit.

The other part is I do want stiffer suspension. I wouldn't describe it so much of touring wagon as a boat. To be fair my comparisons are civics, e30s. Tiny things not actual boats. Looking at new struts, top hats, stiffer springs, it seems to put me about the same cost. I could very well be missing things. But $400 for kyb struts, $400 for springs, $200 spec b top hats.

It could be (likely is) your right. I hadn't planned to ever lower the outback so I didn't pay much attention to suspension options. This was mostly to try to confirm my suspicion that I want to go lower than stock lgt height.

Desire for a down pipe is less for power and more because I despise rusty exhaust. I'm so sick of eating rust.

Mine is on lgt bc racing coilovers

Whiteline rear lower control arms for adjustability

Lgt rear upper control arms (bump stop)

Full polyurethane bushings

20mm whiteline rear swaybar

Custom rear swaybar brace

Stock wheels, I will be getting some option lab wheels in the next month hopefully.

Also, I know there is a stigma against cheap down pipes, that being said I got a Megan racing catless downpipe for I think $190 and it fits perfectly, could not be happier with it.3fb2b62ff6e797f5f4cdc32c3f0bff67.jpg

can't remember the lowering springs used on stock struts and shocks, an 1-1/4in lower on 18s. had 17x9 +38 on 245/40 and they rub on the rear and front with stock usdm front fenders.

That looks like a lot of static camber. Was that to get the wheels to not rub or just to get more aggressive handling? Looks good.

Anyone know if you can do koni struts with outback housings? I'm debating on doing koni and some sort of spring, vs doing a coil over.

Neal, I've been looking for pictures of your car all week. I like it a lot. Those Regamasters look fantastic!

Thanks! Glad I was able to inadvertently oblige.

Handling for the most part, with the side benefit it allows the wheels to fit nicely without a roll. I get fairly even tire wear after a track day and since I’m running zero toe I have good tire wear on the street as well.

Koni struts don’t work with outback housings, I mistakenly grabbed an outback strut when I needed a new housing and it’s too long. Check rock auto or eBay for the cheap no-name front LGT struts to cut up, that’s what I did when I needed a replacement housing, I think it was $30-$40.

Cheers
