Zero compression cylinders 2 & 4

Recommended Posts

UPDATE: Thanks to DaveWaters pointing out that I might have a faulty gauge.

New numbers are:

Cylinders 1, 2 and 3 cold compression 100

Cylinder 4 was 55 dry and 75 wet.

Will be researching ringlands and deciding if this is a job I want to tackle myself or outsource it.

Thanks and sorry about the phony title.

I agree that without that data this is a hard nut to crack. I might have to ask my significant other to reach out to her coworker's husband who might have the right tools...

In the meantime I welcome all other advice and responses!

I hope you have replaced that 16 y/o timing belt ?

When you get the leak down #'s let us know.

I guessing you need a new short block.

Also can you please increase the size of your "font" I find that small print hard to read.

305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).  CHECK your oil, these cars use it.

From what you’re describing with the compression test. That it hit 90 but didn’t hold pressure. I’d source a different tool, sounds faulty, as the tool is what holds the pressure. Honestly at this point I think a leak down test is more in line with what you need though.
