Subaru Outback XT Version 1.0

simple

Recommended Posts

Well after owning my '06 OB XT for two months I believe I am done tweaking for at least a little while. It has been a fun experience with a new car brand. Super easy to work on, parts are inexpensive, and of course a nice knowledgeable online community to get hints, tips, and used parts from. Let me know what you think. The VW Passat below was my last car. I loved it but the maintenance killed its value to me. Too many weekends spent fixing stuff.

looks sweet. on what site can you find the jdm tails

I got a used set from HKC-Speed.com

I couldn't believe shipping from Japan was so fast! :)

Thanks for the compliments. I can't wait to drop it another inch in the summer. These wheels will be off in a week when the snow tires show up for the stock 17 inchers.

I'm thinking eyebrows to enhance the look. Maybe even paint the hood scoop flat black to match the trim. Opinions?

It's just too bad the tires can't go all the way to the outer edge of the fenders :( That would look really mean

I run 245/45/18 tires on 8.5" wide wheels (48 offset, 3mm spacer in rear) and I have no rubbing issues at all. :)

It fills the gap quite nice.

The inner sidewall of my back tire would rub ever so slightly against the inner side of the plastic wheel well. I did not have to use the spacer, but I thought it was a good idea. Now I have a quasi staggered fitment

is that Vail behind the VW?

painting the scoop might make it look bigger

Actually, it is Angel Fire, NM. We race there in the summer.

A 3mm will have almost no impact on the bearings. Now a 15 or 20mm spacer is a whole different story. VW guys use spacers a lot to get the perfect look. My passat had 18x8.5 with a 45et. It cleared the suspension arms by 1mm!

i've got at least an inch of clearence on mine....weird

spacer is just wearing out your bearings.... ditch it if you can.

That's probably the difference between 8" and 8 1/2" wheels if all the offsets are similar. Also depending on the tires the widths may be different. I have/had 8 1/2" wheels w/48mm offsets running 245/45 and I barely touch the inner wheelwell in back, not enough contact to require a spacer.

I think this is the first lowered all white Outback that i've seen, i like the look! :)
