Rotor recommendation

Let me start off by saying I have a 2008 Legacy 2.5i with 60k.....I'm about to change the brakes for the first time and was looking for a recommendation for rotors....I thinks I'm going to run Hawk HPS's but should I stick with the OEM rotor?

 

If so what's the oem part #?

Go with whatever you find cheapest. It's not going to make any difference to run an expensive rotor

I was going to say ebay, you can get a set of all 4 drilled/slotted for about $180 shipped, got a buddy who has them and he says they're legit. But FBP is the man so I'll second what Roch said.

I just installed some Hawk HPS along with Centric premium Rotors on my wagon . So far so good .

for a 2.5i, OEM brakes are fine.. I think http://www.brakeswap.com has a list somewhere for OEM blanks. If not, you can also look into "upgrading" to GT brakes if you have the rims to fit over them.

Centric premiums have been great for me and are inexpensive. The e-coating is better than most other rotors on the market

I'm in the same boat. I looked at the rotors that tirerack.com offers and they seem decent and less costly than others. Any advice?

 

Also does anyone have a walkthrough for a brake service or video?

You can get the Centric premiums through Tirerack. That's where I buy mine and they are good quality for the price

Yes the Centric premium rotors have hats that are e-coated along with the cooling vanes. For comparison I should take pics of my DBA 4000's after one winter

Fronts are $67 each and rears are $44 each

Looks like they are the same price on amazon, but you get free shipping. The centric part numbers are 120.47024 and 120.47025. Total for 4 rotors comes to $215 shipped.

Shipping on tire-rack for me was 50 bucks (sending from 2 locations).....I think that's a little crazy no?

Where did you get that price on the rotors. When I go to the site it cost 211.xx for all 4 rotors?

Are you looking at the rotors for the 2.5gt? They are slightly more money than the 2.5i

So I finally got around to swapping my brakes (rotors and pads) this past weekend. Overall it was very easy...one problem I ran into. The bolts which attach the caliper to the brake assembly were torq'd so high. I had a very difficult time loosing them and infact had to tap the wrench loose with a lump hammer.

 

Overall very happy with them.
