I'd even go out on a limb and say it would be worth it to source the parts new...

Thanks, Duffman, and thanks for the measurements in the other thread.

I think you're right about it being worth it, even if one needed to source new parts — I could use my Subaru Bucks and get everything for free (kind of).

Meanwhile, Impatient and I are and a couple others are still trying to figure out how good KYB's GR-2s and RalliTek's rear springs are...

I won't be home until August, and my finances are going to be a mess 'til October, but I just must do something.

Duffman, can you take a pic of the clearance between the front tire and the front lower spring perch of the LGT strut? i am considering doing this on my 3.0r sedan and i want to know how much room there is to play with using the outback tire sizes.

Ok, It was kinda hard to get a pic of this. There isn't much room at all! Not only to get a pic but in clearance as well. I estimate it's not much more than a quarter inch.

I'm not sure how much lower it can go without doing the full conversion...

Actually, I'd be interested in lowering it a bit less — maybe halfway between OEM OB and LGT.

In any case, I'm not as interested in changing the ride height as I am in getting some more damping...

i guess if you put a lowering springs it will hit the tires from turning from lock to lock, bec our tires are bigger than lgt..

But lowering springs will not affect the perch-to-tire clearance.

Yes, I didn't take pic of them side by side but the difference in length was in the spring area.

I would have liked to keep the clearance also but there are so few options for the Outback.

Here are the spec sheets from my Alignment. As u can see, it's all within spec, just not spot on bawlz accurate.

The helper that I used is PN:20501AE00A

I was thinking that an upgrade to the OEM Legacy suspension on the Outback might be to use something like Koni inserts and appropriate springs.

Did this today. Works on passenger side. Driver side, same method but I used a breaker bar instead of a closed wrench. Thanks for putting this pic up!

The struts aren't the same between the wagon and sedan, are they? Obviously the springs are different, but what about the struts and top hats?

Can you take a picture from behind of the rear control arms at ride height?

I wonder how much travel the LGT struts have compared to the Outback...

From what I understand, the front struts are the same sedan/ LGTwagon, but the rears are different.

So if ive read this correctly the front suspension is the same regardless of sedan vs wagon, but the rears are where I get lost. The springs are different but what about the struts? And also can you use the outback top hats with the legacy suspesion at all? Edited by OutbackXT05
