Bob Thompson
I have 97 outback, alarm gets triggered by ???- possibly other remote users - we do not use ours. When it is set off the parking lights will remain on until the battery is disconnected for a period of time. I know all about the switch on the column and it's OFF. I've pulled fuses at the module to disable the remote with no success. The black button and key routine works to clear the alarm when the battery is reconnected, but the lights remain on when it's set off the next time. Note, the black button is mounted, not hanging from 2 wires as all information indicates. Any suggestions?? What's involved to totally eliminate the remote lock system, or do I need to replace the module??
johnegg
you need a remote control programmed into the unit. it can handle up to 4 remotes and if you do not have 4 programmed, you can have stray alarm issues. buy, borrow, or steal a remote and program it into the system 4 times. this should eliminate any false alarms. programming instructions found in link below. http://www.cars101.com/subaru/keyless.html
