Please find what is the problem with my car

Recommended Posts

I have a Subaru Legacy 2010

I drove around 230000. Right now I have one problem.

When you turn right or turn left then I am hearing a sound “tuk tuk tuk” sound.

But when I took my car in the morning there was no sound after a few minutes of drive the sound appears.

Please let me know what is the cause of the problem

Thanks

Yeah. If the CV axles are in good shape, then it may well be the center differential. I had to change mine because I drove on uneven tires for an extended period of time. As far as I understand, doing so makes the center diff overheat and then partially fail. In my case, there was also a whining though during acceleration IIRC.

How much did you spend to fix the center differential

Mine 2010 Subaru Legacy manual 2.5i

its the wheel bearing

Sorry bro. I am sure it’s not wheel bearing.

If the noise is due to the wheel bearing then we will hear the sound continuously..

When I drive around 10 to 15 min then there is no sound when you turn right or left

But after 15 min that it produce tuck tuck sound when you turn your car right or left

Is it worth to pay and the job done or do I need to change the car?

Is there any other thing I need to take care of my car I mean any maintenance ?

probably close. parts aren't cheap. labor will be 4-6 hours maybe more depending on what else is wrong.

no idea where you live, but if rusty, then other issues maybe a problem. be sure to get a warranty on the work

I live in Montréal, Québec .

Do you know any garage which will fix the problem?

230,000km? what's the last service you did and how long ago? given the issue, perhaps you should get the tires checked for being improperly sized. check the cv boots. check timing belt/chain. oil change. diff/transmission fluid change. check brakes for sticking and bleed them. check bushings on suspension (probably cracked some of them).

a new car is 35000 usd more or less. Used car $500-100,000. A 2010 legacy manual is a somewhat unique car. You could probably sell it for the same as the current repair costs and move into something less costly maintenance wise

I used to change the oil every 5000 km and I changed 4 brake disc and pad. I used 22550r17 for summer and 20560r16 for winter. I changed two shock in the front

This member is from montreal and might be able to help, maybe pm him and ask him if he can recommend a shop.

I also did my center diff myself, it's not too bad. I got the part online for $450, gear oil rtv $10 or so. Exhaust gaskets and possibly new spring bolts, $20-$50? Friggin donut gasket and spring bolts and springs are expensive for what they are.

Edit: Oh.. kinda forgot about gear oil too. Red line 75w-90ns is my favorite since it shifts really well in cold weather, but that'll set you back like $60 for 4 quarts.

Hey,

Not many Subaru specialist shops in the Montreal region....you can give a call to Swap Shop in Blainville they've been around awhile now and are good guys. I might also have a buddy that can help if you're willing to go to the South Shore....of course you can always go to a Dealer ;)

Eeeeassssyy yooooo, I think he's asking about the friend of Mr-C who could help, and that he sent a PM to the member I suggested talking to.
