mccorry
That worked... thanks. I was actually planning on going up to 600 grit to get a fine finish as I've heard the MLS gaskets like a smooth finish... the smoother the better I am told. mccorry
Realized I never came back an posted updates.... ended up resurfacing the heads and block decks by hand lapping. I used bluing dye to monitor progress on each. The fire ring imprints were still on the block decks from the first set of head gaskets, so I think that is why they failed after only 60k miles. Here is what the block deck looked like on disassembly... https://photos.app.goo.gl/SZKUrKGjnkkevvMx5 https://photos.app.goo.gl/M7Qw3MmR3PgKQXxg9 https://photos.app.goo.gl/uYq59FiGGgoGURLA6 Edited January 11, 2021 by mccorry
