Hey guys I am back!

 

I picked this "gem" last night.

Things I noticed.

Auto trans slips and cant even get up my drive way.

Long crank to start.

Rust.

No sure what my plans are...saw RHD...had to have.

if i were you i would get the ej205 swap done to it. its the jdm motor for the legacy. and its also twin turboed. i was going to do this swap in my legacy but after some research i realized that i couldn't because of the LHD. it would be and amazing build imo

That would be sweet ...but i have some rust i need to investigate first...along with the trans. trying to weigh out my options to get it drive-able. I kinda want to lift it this time around....i think

So I was told the auto trans started to slip going up hill. Guy changed the fluid and now slips even more. I checked the ATF and looked brand new. Basically needed to push the car to get it up my drive with it being rev'd out. Seems to only move in D and not any other gears. Does this need to be checked running at temp an in neutral?

 

Do I even bother with this trans or just hunt down another 4eat? I would love to 5 speed swap but seems to be a bit tricky and being RHD not sure what else I might need.

 

Valve covers a leaking quite badly and smoke like crazy. I have new ones to swap in along with just doing an oil change. funny thing is i have even looked at odo for the milage yet. lol

Ok if I put the fwd mode fuse in nothing lights up on the dash. On cold start the "AT Oil temp" light flashes then goes away. 1st gear is a bit odd...wants to go reverse then feels like it binds up trying to do forward. Basically does not move. 2-D is the same. kinda wants to move. feels like is trying to grab but moves slowly.

I’m hoping to do a swap on mine, however I know the 95 is OBD 1.5....there is another thread on swapping the 5speed into a 95 that leaves a mystery CEL that could not be tricked on the engine management. You may need to find a full manual harness.

 

As for the clutch pedal, I was planning on contacting one of the ”import" companies on eBay, and ask them to nicely shut up and take my money. I’m sure you could fabricate something, but a direct OEM fit would be easier. Depends on your time and skill. My 95 has the foot rest in the foot well. That has to come out as well.

 

For the troubles at hand, have you dropped the trans pan? I know you said the fluid was clean, but might be sludge and a bad filter in there at 228k. At the moment, it eludes my memory if the 95 has the external spin on filter. Also a point that could cause a simple-fix issue.

 

I do believe you should consider finding a spare trans either way.
