How to recharge AC on 2004 Legacy?

Recommended Posts

R134A.

You refill through the low pressure side. IIRC the port is close to the passenger firewall. It has a grey cap with an L on it. If you just want a one time time refill, any auto place has the can with hose attached. Instructions should be on the can. If you want to do multiple vehicles at different times, buy the hose kit and then the separate cans of R134a.

Procedure is you turn on car and AC to Hi connect refrigerant and open valve it will only accept until full, or the can empties. Some have a purple dye and you get a little kickback to let you know that is is done. In either case, close valve on can and remove hose. A very simple op really. The ports are different sizes so you can't mistakenly attach to the hi side.

sorry been away for a while. If you had a loose connection, you were probably empty and need more R143A. Just fill until it stops accepting. Either return unused cans or save for next year.
