First of all, credit where credit is due for bringing this to our attention. Thanks GravityGear!!

Fitment

2010+ Legacy GT and 2.5i with 6MT

Perrin Part Number

PSPINR016

Tools Needed

none

Time

30 minutes max.

Additional Part for 2010+ Legacy

Washer - Subaru P/N 031208006 (revised 5/2/14 from earlier incorrect P/N)

FOR CLARITY, THIS IS THE CORRECT WASHER PART NUMBER.

This is a super easy install and the bushing firms things up and makes a difference in the feel of our horribly sloppy feeling shifters.

Follow the Perrin directions that come with the bushing. Only difference is that only some of us have the plate that protects the linkage and cable end, and the clip holding the cable (on the right side of pic number 4) doesn't need removal. Also, the OEM Legacy bushing can be pushed out with your fingers and you don't need the screwdriver as described in the instructions. Upon reassembly put the bushing on the tranny linkage first and then slide the cable end hoop over it, place 2015 WRX specific bushing washer (not included with Perrin kit and ordered separately, see part number above) over the assembly and reinstall the pin. Enjoy!!!

Did a test fit on the Perrin Shifter Bushing this evening. I say test fit, and not install, because while it fit perfectly, and does firm up the feel of the shifter, our bushing is different than the WRX piece. Because of that, we do not have a separate washer to retain the bushing and cable end, it is built into our bushing. So, the WRX washer will need to be ordered from Subaru. I will work on that tomorrow.

This is a pic of our setup. No plate to remove per instructions and the retainer clip for the cable does not need to be removed.

Perrin bushing partial install, partial because I dont have the WRX washer to retain the assembly behind the cotter pin.

Ordered Subaru Washer today, will update with more pics on final install.

Edit: Installed on 5/10/14 with correct Subaru washer from 2015 WRX p/n 031208006.

Special Note

Also, it appears that Subaru stopped putting the protective plate on the transmissions to cover the shift linkage some time in the mid-2010 model year, so many of us don't have one. If anyone wants one they will need the plate and 2 bolts shown here. Thanks DrD123!!!

Anyone have a promo code or find a different source that doesn't want $8 to ship a bushing?

Cheap bastard.... ;-) It comes in a nice box! Mine came with a coupon code for 10% try, "SPSUN10" It may work or not if everyone sees it and uses it. http://www.perrinperformance.com

No offense, but am I missing why 11(+?) people would prefer a forum member over going to they're local dealership to get the washer ordered? Maybe I shouldn't move, like ever, if my dealership is nicer than most.

I gladly took the time out of my day to do the research, order the part, and save them the time and trip to their local dealers. All they need to do is take a leisurely mosey to their mailbox. ;)

And because this is a community where we help eachother out.

Also I would rather deal with Gteaser miles away in Cali, then trust my local Subaru dealership with even putting air in my tires. He has proven that he cares and it shows in what he brings to the table. I for one really appreciate him on the daily. :)
2010 2.5GT limited is for sale. :)

I was just curious. I made friends with the parts guy at my dealership...but their mechanics on the other hands.

I do appreciate the pictures you have. Helped me look up the part on their IPB. I was quoted 11 cents and 2 days for them to get it. :)

OK... Got the washers from Subaru ... ummm... just to be sure these are really small I ordered part# 031106000... the ext diameter is 1/2" (12.63mm) and the inside diameter is 1/4" (6.64mm) does that seem right...

I don't have the bushing in hand yet I'll see it next week only.
