Upgrade factory nav with newer factory nav?

Recommended Posts

We just got a 2010 Limited with navigation. Come to find out that you can't stream music from your phone, just make phone calls. Very disappointing!!!

I'd like to stay factory just so everything still works, like the reverse camera.

From what I've read the later ones you could use the bluetooth to listen to music from your phone. Not for sure but from what I've read maybe 2012 but 2013/2014 do work that way.

So does anyone have a 5th gen Subaru that they've swapped the radio out of a newer year to get the updated features.

And if you have a 2011-2014 that you are able to listen to bluetooth music off your phone so I can figure out what year radios might work for a swap.

Also have a 2010 GT, Bluetooth worked for music until I changed phones (both old and new phone were android). So I believe this is a phone software or settings issue rather than nav system issue.

Having said that, I'm still keen to see if people upgraded to a newer system easily and what benifits they found.

I had the same problem initially, its all in how you add the phone to the system. It treats your phone like two different devices (phone and music device). I'd have to go check what the correct menu sequence is, but if you follow the settings for the music rather than the phone, it should add your device for both uses.
