m sprank
STOCK UP-PIPE REMOVAL 1. Remove the turbo down-pipe and down-pipe heat shield. 2. Remove the passenger side front wheel. 3. Remove the small plastic inspection cover in front of the O2 sensor in the passenger side exhaust header manifold. 4. Remove the O2 sensor and heat shield from the passenger side exhaust manifold. 5. Remove the heat shield from the drivers side exhaust manifold, and remove the exhaust manifold. 6. Remove the passengers side exhaust manifold. 7. Remove the EGT sensor from the stock up-pipe. (Sometimes you must disconnect the electrical and remove sensor once up-pipe is out of car) 8. Remove the nuts attaching the stock up-pipe to the turbo. There are five of these nuts. 9. Remove the heat shield from the rear of the stock up-pipe. 10. Remove the passengers side engine mount nut on the bottom of the front cross-member. 11. Jack up the engine from the underside, enough to remove the stock up-pipe. Be very careful not to damage the oil pan. If you are using a floor jack, place a flat piece of wood between the jack and the oil pan, as to spread the weight of the engine over as wide an area as possible. 12. Rotate the up-pipe carefully, so as to remove it by lifting the engine as little as possible. UP-PIPE INSTALLATION Reverse the Order of the above steps to install the up-pipe. Upon reassembly, tightening sequence is as follows: 1. Finger-tighten the top up-pipe flange enough to contact the gasket only. Do not tighten with a wrench as yet. 2. Finger-tighten the passengers side exhaust manifold. Do not tighten with a wrench as yet. 3. Tighten the bolts connecting the up-pipe to the passengers side exhaust manifold. Use a wrench and tighten fully. 4. Finger-tighten drivers side exhaust manifold to the cylinder head. Do not use wrench as yet. 5. Tighten the passengers side exhaust manifold to the driver side exhaust manifold. Use a wrench and tighten fully. 6. Tighten the five nuts on the top of the up-pipe connecting it to the turbocharger. Use a wrench and tighten fully. 7. Tighten both exhaust manifolds at the cylinder heads. Use a wrench and tighten fully. It is important to follow this tightening sequence to ensure a trouble free installation of your new up-pipe
