samn1968
My 96 outback have over 192,000 miles. I'm wondering if in should replace the timing belt and components or do a valve job. The car is not giving me problems but since is a 96 with 192.000 miles . I need some advice. Thanks....
bigBADbenny
Timing belt kit is done on miles or time, either first. Heads condition can be verified with a compression and leak down test iirc, or check the valve clearances with the cam covers off.
RumbleRumble
If you are unsure of the timing belt components then you need to take the cover off and have a look, maybe if you can take the belt off and check the pulleys. A good kit last 100,000 miles or 10 years.
