Question about pad/rotor pairing, KNS 4K/DBA

Hey all, quick question about brake pad/rotor pairing. As with everything else, Subarus seem to be picky with brakes. In any stock Honda you could slap some Hawk HPS on them and the brakes would feel great. I've never had that happen on my Legacy, and even when I switched to the following setup and bled the brakes, they've always been more soft feeling. This is just a street car, so I'm not looking to overhaul things. My most recent setup has been:

KNS 4K front rotors (by DBA)

Centric premium rear rotors

Hawk HPS 5.0 pads all around

Any suggestions on a pad that is perhaps more suited to the KNS 4K? The rotors are in good shape, but the pads are wearing away. My brakes have always felt the same regardless of pad/rotor setup. My mod-friendly Subaru specialist said you usually get better feel from the stock brakes... which makes little sense to me. Not sure if maybe the pads are too soft for the rotors. Would a more metallic or ceramic pad be better? Please give suggestions if you have any.

Thanks a lot! :)

I would reach out to Ken at KNS as he is an expert in this field. The Hawk HPS 5.0 should be plenty grippy for you.

How can I reach Ken? The HPS 5.0 feel very soft in this setup, and given my pads are reaching the end of their life I'm ready for a change.

If you haven't already dealt with this, maybe look into Carbotech's 1521/Bobcat pads. G-loc's GS-1 pads are essentially the same pads (same guys involved). These bite clearly better than the original HPS, not sure about the 5.0 version.

But further up, as in AX-6 (CT) or R6 (G-loc) will have better bite with some dust. More like Hawk's HP+ for bite, not quite as bad for dust or noise, gentle on your rotors about like HPS.
