VespaGTS
I found a slow leak today and would like some advice. This picture shows the location of the leak. I removed the TMIC and found this wet area. I was thinking the intake hose to the TMIC, but that has been dry since I installed the Crawford AOS. What do you think is leaking. VespaGTS
Does anyone know what is in this area that would leak oil? The bolt holding the knock sensor is coated and wet so I am guessing it is from above this area.
apexi
I came across the thread below when looking into this last night, maybe a cracked hose coming up from the block like Alex had? https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/oil-leak-top-engine-block-253505.html
VespaGTS
If nobody has any other comments... it looks like I am setting up for a deep dive in that area. There are so many parts in the way to reach this oil line I may just have a shop do it. Big hands are a bitch sometimes!
relative4
Just looks like where the TMIC-TB hose clamps onto the TB. Common source of leakage. Not sure if that's what you meant by "intake hose to the TMIC", since this one comes FROM the TMIC, but there is no hose TO the TMIC. Once you pull the hose, it should probably be clearer. Max Capacity
I’ll agree it’s likely a cracked breather hose. With the tmic off it may be easier to see 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. This is what I am hoping for! Sorry about the newbie ask, I get a lot of it but some work needs to be done getting the terms correct.
VespaGTS
Resolved: The coupler hose between the throttle body and TMIC had a hole in the edge of the seal. Years of sucking oil through the intake must have been cumulative and drip by drip it built up. This did not show up in the smoke test I did a few months back. Replaced with Perrin. The coupler hose is a little long but I made it work for now.
