need help, car shakes, like a washining machine out of balance

Recommended Posts

my car at idle runs rough, not always , sometimes, i drive it come to a stop light and the car shakes, like a washing machine out of balance then comes back, roughness at 1 and 3 varies , up to 13 on 1, last week with cold weather up to 100 on 1.........

no leakes, dw 65, new fuel filter, new intake seals, oxy is fine , it will take 20 secs when i restart the car when ap turns on to correct itself, but happens all the time,

any ideas?

Move the coil pack from a misfiring cylinder to a known good cylinder see if misfire follows and then if no change do the same with injectors. Next step after that would be compression and leak down tests. You may want to do a boost leak test with soapy water sprayed around the intake seals the were recently replaced.

i have suby specialist who does the work, sent data logs to our tuner at turbo tek, waiting for response, the only other thing is i have a breathilyzer installed through the ignition in the car, with all the things we have gone through and relplaced, this is the only odd ball remaining, besides the worse of a bad ring in cyl 1

Had more or less the same thing with my 05 before my piston blew. Hoping that's not the case. If you can, pressure test the pistons to make sure its not loosing compression in any cylinder. Couldn't do that before my piston exploded... $3.8K later on rebuilding the engine.. and the shop I did it.. still not 100% that its fixed yet.. he had to tear it down once already and redo the building after only 300 or so miles due to a faulty crank.

I guess you missed post 3 above.

Check the connectors at the gas pedal and throttle body. make sure they are tight and clean.

I'm just guessing but that should be free.

also check the coil pack connectors - the plugs get brittle and crack causing loose connection.

I had one break completely - car idled only (barely ran - totally rough/would not go over 1.5K RPM) - zip tied connector back together = all better. I did eventually replace it afterwards - but at least it proved out the issue.

Trying to summarize:

* Coilpacks: "new" - What brand?

* Coilpack connectors: "?" - Do you have black in the back and white in the front on each side?

* Injectors: "are "fine" - What did you do to test that?

* MAF: "new" - What brand?

* Front AF: "new" - What brand?

* Leakdown: "good" - Do you have the numbers?

* Compression: "good" - Do you have the numbers?

* Intake gaskets: "new" - OEM?

* Cyl 1: Primary misfire

* Cyl 2: not mentioned

* Cyl 3: secondary misfire

* Cyl 4: not mentioned

Any voltage mods? Like the fuse for bumping the voltage?

Has anything been moved between the sides (1/3) and (2/4)?
