MemyShe
I've had my Subaru for about 5 months now. Today, I got into the driver's seat and went to start my car, and though the key fits into the ignition, it otherwise won't move. The car is off, in park, and I tried it doing it with my foot on the brake, but nothing seems to work, even when it seems like i'm twisting it to the point where it's about to snap in half. This might be something really simple/silly and I may feel really dumb after asking. Thank You.
halwith
the steering is probably sitting against the lock. try steering away from the lock then turn the key.
Infosecdad
Yes, turn the steering wheel one way or the other; probably will take a decent amount of force, but should free up the key cylinder to turn so you can start it.

iyalla
Its truly incredible how much pressure the steering rack can put on the lock If the steering is turned try and give it a quick 10 degree shake left and right before turning the car off and locking the steering. Try not to go to full turn before locking too.
