Installed Brembo Grand Turismo on Outback

Got my Brembos installed today. Fronts only.

They're big, really big.

Install specs for those that are curious cause I know there isn't much info out there for us OB guys.

Calipers bolt right up, no modification of anything needed. I already had techna-fit SS lines and they also fit no problem. New rotors also bolt on. Stock OB wheels DO NOT fit. I used a H&R 15mm spacer kit and I had to press new studs into the hub. This is where the only modification was needed. Had to make a small notch on the dust shield to get the studs in and out without taking the hub off. With the 15mm spacer there is plenty of room..too much almost as my one wheel just barely rubs the front fender. A 7mm spacer should probly be the better choice, but I got 15mm already, so o well.

These things stop like no other. I swear I just touch my foot to the pedal and car stops. I did a few 80-0 stops back to back and there was literally no fade by the last one. Can't wait till I save up enough $$ to fix my rears next.

Cliffnotes:

Brembos Bolt on

Stock OB wheels need at least a 7mm spacer

18x8 OZ Superleggera's fit without spacers

What size are your stock Outback wheels?

stock 17" rim, 225/55/r17

as far as brake bias goes, I havn't noticed anything bad. I havn't driven it much yet, but i did take it out for a spin on my favorite twisty and it did much better than it used to. I'm going to get some aggressive pads for the rear and hope that, and the cars EBD are able to keep things in check mostly.

Only other thing i noticed so far is that ABS kicks in occasionally. I think it's cause the clamping force is so much greater any slick spots on the road really become apparent. It's still no where near as bad as the stock brakes with RE92's.

I'm a little worried though that I might have too much brakes for winter driving... we'll just have to wait and see.

My other wheels are OZ superleggara's and when i was switching wheels for winter I found those stickers and slapped then on cause i was bored.... they actually look kinda cool on there

15mm was really my only choice. H&R makes 5mm, 15mm, and 25mm for the legacy. 5 woulda been really really close and since I didn't know and I had to have a spacer with me on install day..... I went with 15mm.

My real problem is going to be next spring when I switch back to my OZ's. They clear without the spacers, but since I had to press new studs in, I either have to use the spacers with the OZ's, or get some open end lugnuts to work with the longer studs.

I've got a few more miles on the brakes now and I've come to a few conclusions;

These brakes are too fricking big for city driving. I only use about an inch of pedal travel to stop the car and it's a really stiff pedal. I mean, I can really feel the road and what the brakes are doing, but it's just too much for normal driving.

Granted, I can't wait for my first track day to really get these things warmed up and working hard, but for regualr street use...it's like they're laughing at me.

My foot slipped on the clutch and I clipped the brake pedal....almost sent my passengers through the windshield. Damn glad no one was behind me.
