Deltaklop
Hey guys, I just registered on this forum but I've been reading it for a while now. I registered because I have questions about the ej20x. I bought one in a jdm shop with everything on it (trans, turbo, dp, up) to put in my 05 LGT and I was wondering if anyone has it in their car and if so, what changes did they have to do. I've been looking and searching for my answers for weeks but I couldn't find anything. Thanks!

MrTris
Long story short, you need all the electronics to go with it, in addition to alot of custom work.
Deltaklop
I found out at my expense, now that I paid 2200$ for it I'm going to make it fit! I only bought it because I couldn't find any lgt engines.
Deltaklop
But if anyone have any information about someone who has done it I would be very happy!

I only bought it because I couldn't find any lgt engines. So : Hey guys, I just registered on this forum but I've been reading it for a while now. Means you didn't see any of the threads where we plug Heuberger or Fred Beans when people need a new turbo block? Don't get me wrong -- you got a great deal for an engine AND trans! But you're in for way more work than you would expect for engine replacement. Edited April 22, 2014 by MrTris because more polite

scontivt
Unless I'm mistaken, he could use the engine, just swap over intake, sensors, Turbo, Intercooler, AVCS and get a custom tune... Someone please chime in, as this is from reading all of the engine threads. Or, he could use the twinscroll setup if he has the JDM TMIC... Thanks, Steve Edited April 22, 2014 by scontivt
scontivt
Here, check out this thread. If the blocks are all of EJ Design, then wiring harness and sensor swapping "should" work.

Thanks, Steve I would like to keep my twinscroll setup since i do have the JDM TMIC, otherwise, I have a VF46 on my blown EJ25 and I think it's going to be too weak. JmP6889928
There are engines all over the place. Here a couple of links that can provide you with used engines for basically just about any Subaru you can find and they all come with a warranty. Simply go to these websites and fill in the information about your car and they'll give you a quote with delivery. You'll find any configuration you want. Make sure to have your VIN number on hand because the specific fitment will require the 6th digit of the VIN to make sure it's correct for your vehicle and electronics. Good luck. http://www.woodfins.com/subaru/legac.../2005/engines/ http://www.firstclassengines.com/?gc...FYY7MgodHCMAUw http://www.engineandtransmissionworl...bile=&part=300 http://www.ebay.com/bhp/subaru-legacy-engine http://www.mwdauto.com/engines.php?f...FcdaMgodFw4AiA

MrTris
What is your damn problem? UMAD because I want to swap a JDM engine in MY car? If you're unhappy with this thread please feel free to **** off. Not unhappy at all, bro. See my build thread for what you could be doing if you'd just take some advice. We've got a pretty decent foundation for a tried-and-true engine replacement formula here, you should really check it out. Look around -- there's literally like, one dude here doing a JDM engine swap, and it's doing it because he's bored, not because his shit's broken and needs repaired. He knows he's entering uncharted territory and is prepared to experiment. But yeah, you're right - Your car. Do whatever you like, broseph. scontivt
Though I agree with MrTris as far as reliability and ease of build, Deltaklop has an engine no one on here will want and has to use it, or eat the $2,000+ loss. I would at least attempt it before throwing away $2,000. Worst case scenario, he has to sell it anyway and try to build another engine. Just my $.02 Steve
lockmedic
sell that JDM driveline to someone with a 2.5RS or 3rd gen. buy the right shit. drive happy.
Deltaklop
I will consider selling it, but it won't be easy.
Deltaklop
so I talked to a guy who made this swap and he told me to keep my EJ25's intake manifold, extend the o2 sensor on the downpipe and VOILA. The car is supposed to run good but I would get more power if I get a tune.
Deltaklop
I took my car for a drive today. Everything works great! I was suprised to here the twin scroll sound, it sounds like it has equal lenght headers. No rumble for me Oh and by the way, is there someone who knows where I could find a stock TMIC for the EJ20y? Deltaklop
For you guys, now we know that we can do this swap pretty easily.
scontivt
Hey, glad to hear that you got it going!!! Could you post a how-to to show what you needed to do, as well as anything outside of a normal engine swap (I.e. what sensors needed to swap over, did you use the stock intake, what had to be removed) Thanks for doing the swap. Deltaklop
We had to swap the intake, extend the o2 sensor on the down pipe, that's all. This is a pretty easy swap and straight foward. It runs great, it never stalled either. In the future I think I will buy a ej20x ecu but for now, I'm pretty happy with the results. Full swap, everything included for less than 3k.
