Correct tool for retracting electronic e brake

Hi all

I am working on a 2016 Subaru Legacy Outback Limited 4 cyl

In planning the job, the rear brake electronic e brake retraction has me concerned.

I was looking to see if anyone on the forum knows and has used an odbII tool which is equipped to put the handbrake into maintenance mode. I didn’t want to get in there and find I ruin something Or can’t finish the job.

I called Autel and they said they didn’t work on Subaru’s.

Any advice is appreciated

Thanks R

There are numerous threads on this topic - search is your friend. No need to retract the pistons electronically (although it can be done with Subaru's SSM software - $$$); tools to screw in the pistons can be had for a few dollars.
