So i hit a pothole on the highway the other night in the left lane and the strut basically exploded. I got the car across the highway to the right lane with the tire squealing the whole way. The car is fine other then an axle and the coilover so dont worry.

Some pics on the flat bed.

Here is the thing, the pothole really was not that big, the car does drive fine even though its limping on 3 coilovers and a stock strut, but coilovers are on the way and will be here tomorow and installed friday with some rotors and pads.

HELL NO!!!!

Would not trust Megan Racing for suspension parts again. I have a set of Stance on the way. Some of my friends have them and they totally love them. Earl at Stance really took time to help me pick out spring rate

I wouldn't have trusted Megan's to begin with, but, that's me. I took 2 rides in a Honda that was on them and hated every last second. My stomach felt like it was in a rock tumbler the whole time.

They are really harsh and they get to you when you drive 50 miles each way to work. I have a friend that got a set of Stance Coilovers and according to him with 12k and 10k springs they ride better then my Megans did, big part of the reason I dont care that my Megan shit itself. I am pretty stoked that it happened close to home, right after construction so i had a great spot to pull over after I dodged traffic, and that the only other thing that broke was an axle. The car really does feel fine even on 1 stock strut and 3 Megans, but thats nothing that wont be remedied tomorrow. The DBA rotors will help a little more next week :)

I guess whereever the sub-strata of the roads is only 2 feet deep the roads suck? C'mon people, roads suck everywhere except where the states actually have people proud of what they do and paid to do it right.

That being said, everytime I take my 06 Civic SI into Jersey City (exit 14C IIRC off the Jersey Turnpike/95 North), I think I'm going to have a strut blowout. I literally watched an SUV skitter across the roadway going a normal speed because the road surface overwhelmed the suspension's ability to handle it. Parts of Philly can be like that too.

Well in colder states the change in temp cause the roads to expand and contract. Also the salt doesnt help, and neither does the water getting into a crack in the road and expanding causing the crack to grow.

When Drift Monkey came up this way he understood why some of us on this site though that 17s were too big in this area.

Sucks to hear about your Megan's man.

East Coast Roads FTL....

That being said, there was a thread recently over on NASIOC in the motorsports section on how some guy killed his JIC "not so magic" strut in a similar way.
