The upgraded brakes on the Cadillac ATS are basic Brembos, and are extremely cheap, being a GM product. It seems they'll work with an STi rotor, and logically our cars as well, provided there's enough room.

Overall, they don't look quite as beefy as Subaru's OEM STi Brembo Calipers, and they aren't the prettiest with the Caddy logo... but Brembo, so they'll most likely be a substantial upgrade for anyone in the Subaru community who is still on their stock sliding calipers. IMO the only possible flaw/weak point in the design is that the caliper must be angled from optimum (pic), to accommodate the 4" vs 5" spread of the bolts. Definitely looking for feedback from someone in the know, will this cause any issues or pad wear inconsistencies?

I'm thinking about a set of them for the Saabaru, pending a few clearance questions. The biggest issue right now is that we may need to run an 18" wheel to fit the taller (but slightly slimmer) calipers. I think there will be more options for wheels, however, because of the added spoke clearance. Not confirmed whether we'll be able to grind down the bump on top of the caliper, nor if they'll clear 17"s once trimmed. There are a few people a few steps ahead over at the other forum, so check up on their thread to be sure.

If you take the leap on these, please post up in here with updates... Group thinking on mods like this is an awesome way to move our LGT hobby forward, so thanks to everybody posting up in this thread. And thanks especially to Dispatch20 for finding the kit and bringing it up in the WDYD, in the first place!

A lot of good examples of their Facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/ctsvbrakeswap/

And a specific post with tech details about CTS-V vs ATS calipers:

There still seems to be some remaining questions on brake bias.

Lastly, it seems like Brembo started manufacturing in the US just for Cadillac: http://www.brembo.com/en/ComunicatiStampa/2012/BREMBO_CADILLAC%20ATS_ENG.pdf

They'll fit just about any Subaru, as long as the wheel will clear the caliper/rotor... they appear to be slimmer than the STi Brembo calipers, so we may have a winner on our hands here.

Rotor size?

Too bad they say Caddy instead of just Brembo

STi rotors, so 326mm by 30mm, or whatever they are.

Wheel wise, that's what I mean. Shit if I can get these under my 2011 WRX Wheels, or guys with the OEM 5 spokes from 2005-2007, this is ground breaking for a upgrade for those of us with OEM Wheels.

Boy this would be huge, I'm sick of remanufactured calipers that seize in 2 years. . .

So is it still up in the air whether caddy fronts and oem rears work together? Or you'd have to go sti for the rears? I may have read that wrong. . .

Rears are essentially appearance only, for most purposes (and 2-pot rears would be at least as much $, for much less benefit). Get the brake force distribution right, and these should work great as a front-only option. STi master cylinder swap might be a good start.

It's been like 5 hours already and nobody's tried these out on OEM wheels. Come on Internet people, what gives?

On Facebook someone tried them with the OEM 17's and they didn't fit. Maybe with spacers?

From my understanding the ATS calipers work with STi rotors and pads. I've thought about this swap when I need new brakes but my current pads and rotors are only a year and a half old right now with plenty of life left on them. Sub'd for interest

Very interesting. But frankly I never understood the Brembo craze...don't the stock brakes work just great unless you're running huge sticky rubber or doing track days/autoX? Someone tell me a good reason to do this on a DD:)

Floating iron calipers suck, they seize, and don't have the best pad choices.

Also, buying a reman stock caliper is the same price as these Brembos. Why not upgrade by just spending a little bit more for the conversion kit?

I'll take a shot at it, too... for DD duty, the brake pedal feel is probably the main selling point. It's a whole new world for your right foot. Like the 6MT versus 5MT; drive both, and you'll know. Fixed calipers feel more solid, and can take whatever you can throw at them (provided decent pads and fluid). My B's far improved "brake resolution," and they stay linear under heavy use. No spongy dead zone. No wobbles or drama, just decel. You could achieve 80% of this with the stock setup, but why not start ahead of the game - especially for less than $200 for a set... so $400 including the adapter kit (!). Even if you have to find a set of wheels to clear, the upgrade would still be well worth it.

But seriously, if you justified getting a turbocharged performance sedan over a Camry for DD duty, you don't need all this convincing, just give them your monies

Haha, good point.

I'll likely do this whenever I need new brakes, especially considering that I could likely fab up the adapters myself for a couple bucks.

Subscribed! Any word on rear caliper fitment? Its nice to get pots in all four corners just for cosmetic sake.

If my miata engine swap was completed, I'd guinea pig these, but I'm not doing it without an easy second car option if I get lazy during the install.
