AEM Failsafe Wideband O2/Boost Gauge

I have one installed in your pod Block8head. Love it! Extremely customizable as far as gauges go with various faceplates. Interchangeable readouts (inside afr, outside boost, visa versa, or both boost, both afr and a couple others is think. Software is exceptional as well. For the price, there isn't anything that really comes close to what this delivers.

 

Install was straightforward, only issue I had was they don't provide you with long enough vacuum line to tie in correctly so you'll need to get some of that. But that is minor.

 

I would recommend it to anyone!

 

Don't have any pictures this second but if someone is interested I can try to get something up later.

I'm trying to resist a pod from you Block8head, they look slick as hell. Trying to be stealthy though and keep it in the cubby. :)

 

Thanks EK_YYC, I picked up some vacuum line before I started and you were right on.

 

 

 

Now for the progress. All the work under the hood is done!

 

Thanks to Underdog for this post that helped me decide where to run everything through the firewall. I decided to pull some extra wires at the same time. Pulled a red, yellow, black and blue, wrapped in some spiral wrap I had laying around. Blue will probably be the failsafe output to the EBCS, black maybe for future remote start hood pin, and the other two are extras for now.

Modified the stock grommet by punching some holes with a piece of tubing.

So I was able to tap into the wastegate (aka boost) control solenoid circuit at the ECU instead of at the EBCS.

 

*Use these instructions at your own risk, and don't forget to disconnect the battery while you monkey with the ECU*

 

I used a standard Bosch type relay to interrupt the signal going to the EBCS.

 

You'll find the EBCS wire at the ECU - connector B134, pin 32. Cut it at least an inch away from the connector.

 

Relay terminals are wired:

30: EBCS wire, ECU side

87a: EBCS wire, harness side

87: Wired to 86 through 100 ohm resistor

86: 12v (from cigarette lighter)

85: Failsafe output from gauge

 

87 is wired to 86 through a resistor to feed the ECU 12v while the failsafe is activated. This prevents it from throwing a P0235 DTC every time you start the car or trigger the failsafe.
