3.0 or 3.6 in a 2nd Gen?

Recommended Posts

My 2.5 appears to want to lunch itself. Has anyone dropped a 3.0 0r 3.6 into a 2nd gen?

If yes, any advice on doing the same?

If no, any thoughts on what version / year model would work best to match up to '99 electronics? I assume I'd need the ECU from the donor vehicle or a stand alone.

Thanks for any help!

I personally swapped a 2001 EZ30d into a 99 2.2l Wagon quite successfully.

If you haven't already I suggest reading Dyne's thread here:

https://www.rs25.com/forums/f145/t155496-dynes-1999-2-5rs-h6-ez30d-swap.html

as it is very informative.

I would also suggest reading the H6 thread on NASIOC here:https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1323800

It is a longer read but again has a lot of useful information.

Not to discourage you but I would suggest being somewhat mechanically inclined to take on a swap like this yourself. It took a good amount of time researching and collecting all the parts i needed for the swap. I would also suggest purchasing a donor car for your swap as opposed to and engine and bits and pieces here and there.

The Torque you gain down low and the sound the flat six makes is really intoxicating.

Luckily your car is a transitional year so you might get lucky and find a 6cyl from a 3rd gen with all the parts you need. I had an early 3rd gen wagon that was built late 1999, so I'd suspect a lot of the parts would work on your car but it's hard to say without having the two cars side by side.
