07-09 front end on 05

An opportunity has arisen for me. This morning I was in a wreck and need new hood, fenders, bumpers and headlights. I am a fan of the face lift they did in 2007.

From the looks of it, it should all fit as long as I do fenders, lights, bumper, and hood.

 

Can anyone confirm or deny this for me?

08/09 is facelift here in USDM. Fenders, bumper, grille, headlamps, and headlamp brackets, and fender brackets are all that are different. The bumper beams should be the same as long as you don't have an OB, then they are bigger, "tri-piece" beams. The scooped hoods on all GT models are the same JDM/USDM on the 4 gens (they are aluminum), the scooped hoods on all OBXT models are the same (aluminum), the N/A hoods (non-OB) are all the same (galvanized steel), and all N/A hoods on OB models are the same (also galvanized steel). The headlamp harness connections should be the same for all USDM 4th gens.

Interesting. Didn't think the aluminum hoods were used w/o the scoop O.o

I am really going to try to get this done since I have the chance to.

I will post images and what not to make sure it is easy for anyone else who may want to do it in the future.

Everything will fit, you'll need some different air diverters behind the bumper cover and you may need to re-wire the headlamps if the connectors are different. Go for it! Everyone is doing the up-fit to the rear for 08-09's with the smaller tail lamps which everything fits fine. Post up some photos when your done!

From what I can tell from looking at the exploded view of the parts,

the wires are the same for the front lights, but on the 08-09 the headlight and highbeam

come in one harness and the front turn signal is separate. On the 05-07, all three come in the same harness.

It is also about $100 cheaper to go with 08-09 parts!

Sounds like you probably won't have to do much, if any, rewiring in that case. Much more convenient than what's required for the JDM swaps

Fog lights will have to be rewired. I'll have to find someone willing to test the output to their 08-09 fog lights so I can make sure power is the same and find out how many wires they have. Hopefully I can just swap the plugs.

You betta post some pics cause I want to do the same, but for an obxt.

Just a note that the 08-09 pancake fogs suck. I would recommend going aftermarket. I went with custom made brackets and Hella Micro DE fogs. Way better and don't look too out of place in the hole.

do you mean they don't provide much light?

Yep. Lots of glare, no power to light up the road. They also have a tendency to crack if you put better bulbs in them or get a good stone chip. I've heard of several guys that have had that problem. They are a glass lens that gets pitted easily.

 

Some people have used laminx to try to keep the lights from chipping. I don't know if it works or not, I stopped paying attention after I got my Hellas and sold my stockers.

So I may be scrapping this idea before it even starts.

I have determined that neither headlight is broken.

Thus I will not have any excuses to replace them.

And with Christmas coming, I do not have $800 to drop on headlights.

Part of my tailgate is plastic (around the rev lights) and the rest is alum. For me anyway. It is a Canada only model being the 08 Legacy wagon. Don't know if that makes a difference.
