I have a 18/e I/m at my house and your right about the runners, the throttle chamber is a little bit smaller in volume and sits lower to the block making the runners longer, I wonder if the 18/e manifold has a quicker entry for the air to make up for the smaller capacity for air intake or makes it a little less turbulent.
