The following instructions are for Windows 7 x64 machines:
(but should work with 32-bit machines)

NOTE: I've tested these instructions on 2 different laptops, both running Windows 7 x64 (one is Enterprise, one is Home Premium) so this should be applicable to most (if not all) Win 7 x64 machines.

1. Download EcuFlash 1.29 by clicking here

2. Run the installation and accept all defaults (including installation directory)

3. If you see the following error message, relax, just click OK, and forget all about it.

4. Finishing going through the installation, accepting all defaults.

5. Plug in the Vag-Com cable

6. A "found new hardware" bubble should pop up. You do not need to click on it or do anything, but if you did, it would look like the pictures below. DO NOT INTERRUPT THE AUTOMATIC DRIVER INSTALLATION.

After a moment, it would then look like this:

7. After the drivers have been installed, open EcuFlash. You should see something like the following window. Look at the bottom-right corner of EcuFlash; you should see something like FT232R USB UART A400fMIA. If you see this, the drivers have been installed correctly.
If you see something like "No Vehicle Interface," click here to manually change the drivers

8. Close EcuFlash, and download the latest RomRaider by clicking here

9. Run the installation and accept all defaults.

10. At the end of installation, you might see something like the following window. Just click "This program installed correctly."

11. Download the latest logger definitions (logger.xml) and place it into the RomRaider folder, which should be: C:\Program Files (x86)\RomRaider
The logger definitions file can be found here
**Keep in mind the file you download is a .zip and the file you want needs to be extracted out of the zip.

12. Download the latest ECU definitions (ecu_defs.xml) and place it into the RomRaider folder (same as before).
The ecu definitions file can be found here
**Keep in mind the file you download is a .zip and the file you want needs to be extracted out of the zip.

13. Download the latest Road Dyno Car definitions (cars_def.xml AND cars_def.dtd) and place them into the RomRaider folder.
**IMPORTANT: There is already a file in that folder called cars_def.dtd. I suggest you rename it cars_def.old before proceeding.
Both of these files can be found here

14. If the following window appears, click No

15. If the following window appears, click OK

16. In RomRaider, click Settings (at the top), then Logger Definition Location...
Navigate to the RomRaider folder, which is where you placed the logger.xml file. Select the logger.xml file.

17. RomRaider should now show you all the options in the left pane, like below:

18.
Close RomRaider.

19. Download the latest version of LearningView by clicking here

20. Install Learning View

21. Refer to the first post here, step 21, to begin the actual tuning process which should be the same as before.
