It's only good if you like what they've done with the car.

The 4000$ figure is a red herring. 4000 more than 28k, is 32K. the 09 H6 models for 32K was not a stripped down car, it had many standard features, including bilsteins on the H6 Legacy at that price point. Some argue that it could have had more for 32K, but it was not a base-line trim.

I am guessing that the 28K H6 they are talking about there, has lost many of the de-contented features that we also talk about the Legacy GT losing.

They are selling less options on a bigger, uglier car, for a bit less money.

At this point, I would rather buy a 2-4K 100,000 mile+ SVX, and maintain it with scarce parts, than outlay $25-30k any new Subaru. Maybe an old Forester or Baja 5-speed for the winter, and utility use.
