  1. The information in this thread is strictly for the OEM Panasonic PExxx models (non navigation with the 4.3" video screen). Your OEM navigation HU is made by Fujitsu Ten. Its rear camera input is via the 16-pin socket. The information I posted on my site here still applies: Subaru 16-pin rear camera operation The only difference is that 2013-2014 Legacy/Outback models with the FT nav also use a pin on the 16-pin harness to pipe a signal from the car's Body Integrated Unit (BIU) into the HU to pin #4. You should find that your car already provides the reverse gear signal on your 28-pin harness. You do not need to add any other wires to that harness. I see in your picture that your car has a 16-pin harness with wires on the pins for the camera input. Are you replacing an OEM camera that has died? I can build a harness that passes through the parking brake and BIU signals from your car's 16-pin harness into the HU and has an RCA jack and 6V power lead for an aftermarket camera. Also, fairly recently someone let me know that there are now vendors on eBay selling aftermarket replacements for OEM Subaru cameras that will connect to the car's harness in the trunk or tailgate. Those are much less expensive than the OEM cameras from Subaru.
  2. Need more information to even begin to help: * What is your car's model year and model? * What is the model number on the head unit that Subaru originally fitted in your car? (even if you're replacing it, that will tell me useful info about your car's factory wiring). * What buttons (if any) are on the steering wheel that Subaru originally fitted in your car? What kind of cruise control buttons (if any)? * What buttons are on the steering wheel that you're wanting to retrofit into your car? This thread (trabbic's) is for 2005-2007 Legacy/Outback models. For later years and/or different models, see links in my post here (on the Forester forums).
  3. That 8-pin socket on the back of the HU is used by the STARLINK Safety and Security services system. The telematics module (shown on Subaru's wiring diagrams as the "Data Communication Module") sends a mute signal to the OEM HU via that socket. The car's 8-pin harness (designated i272) only has that one wire. 2016 was the first year that was offered in Legacys, and only in the USA.
  4. The problem with that idea is that you might need to lower the resistance rather than raise it. Depends on how the sensor works. I'm guessing that the existing temperature sensor is already providing the HVAC control module with a wider range. The issue is that the CM is programmed with the current limits. If the program is in EEPROM, there might simply be one or two bytes you could change to decrease the lower limit. That would be a better solution, since the display would still show accurate temperatures (at least, as accurate as they are currently). We'd first need someone to dump and disassemble the code in the control module. Note that this is the unit behind the glove box, not the factory head unit (radio) or one of the JDM HVAC panels.
  5. The Subaru OEM sat radio kits connect to a secondary 20-pin expansion port socket (SIE bus) on the rear of the OEM head units. The type of harness the HU uses for the main speaker/power connections doesn't matter. I don't know whether the newer Impreza sat radio kit will work with any of the 2008 or 2009 Legacy/Outback OEM HUs that have aux capability (P-204UN, P-204UH, P-206UNB, or P-206UHB). We need to hear from somebody who has tried it. I have a feeling that it won't work.
  6. See my post #15, above. The monitor screen has a pin that gets (I think) +5V when the nav system wants to talk or chime. On the under-seat nav unit, the 10-pin power connector has a pin labeled "LMUTE" on Kenwood's schematics that might provide a mute signal. Subaru's wiring diagrams do not show a factory wire on that slot on the car's harness plug.
  7. Correct. A small number of models outside North America have built in steering wheel capability like jabz's DDX9016DABS. Those can be connected directly to resistive-style SWCs, and have menus to "learn" the buttons. Your DDX9903S will need a steering wheel interface module (ASWC-1, Maestro, etc.). Not correct. Since your 2006 LGT did not have audio SWCs from the factory, there is a segment of the SWC wires missing between your car's B68 harness plug (at the steering column) and harness B36 (on the bulkhead). You would need to add that missing segment. On the i85 aux harness that you ordered from me, I inadvertently included the 2 SWC wires. Sorry to have gotten your hopes up.
  8. Yes. On a manual, the B68 harness simply won't have any wires for the shift up/down buttons. It will always have the wires for horn and cruise controls, and also SWCs (if the car had those from the factory). See my post #383 earlier in this thread. For a car without factory SWCs, you would need to add new pins/wires for the appropriate slots into B68 (ideally with the proper pins salvaged from a wrecked car's B68). Some day, maybe we'll identify the proper terminal to fit that plug.
  9. What is the Metra Part #? I'm not aware of any Metra part that fits the car's 24-pin harness. I've been obtaining the raw connector shells and terminals from suppliers who sell in quantity. Anyone who wants to contact me about those, please use e-mail (or if you use PM, include your e-mail address).
  10. Howdy! You might fill in more info in your profile (model year? any other interesting mods?) The WRX Atlanta folks are having their next dinner meet this Tuesday, 3/15 at Varner's Tavern in Smyrna. 25% discount on food there (the mgr owns a 2015 WRX). All Subarus (and even non) are welcome. Thread link FFI.
  11. I already e-mailed DrD123 awhile back about this, but that Rydeen is obviously a counterfeit. A real Rydeen will definitely work from 6V, have a serial number, and come in a box with full-color graphics on all 6 sides (and the matching serial number). See this thread.
  12. Welcome, 05LegacyGTGa and Xodondum! I'm fairly knowledgeable about Subaru audio. These are the most frequent meets happening (everyone is welcome): WRXAtlanta BiWeekly Dinner Meets thread ver. 2015! Next one is this Tuesday, 9/8. I might be buying an Outback wagon soon. Really looking for a Legacy or Outback sedan, but seeing mostly wagons lately. Lots of LGT sedans popping up on Craigslist (but I don't want a turbo).
  13. I experimented with the HU some more, looking to see if it had a key to turn off the guide lines. No luck so far. I did remember that you can select the language (English/French/Spanish) in normal operation mode. While viewing the rear camera image (car in reverse), press the SCROLL/TUNE knob to adjust brightness, press again to adjust contrast, and again to select language. Still no key there to turn off the lines. I just noticed that on the Camera System screen, the first line actually says use 1/2 to "select range marking type" (not angle). I'm guessing that was a late change, and originally those keys did select among different styles of lines (as some other Subaru HUs do). Could people with the other models (PE658U1, PE669U1, etc.) check theirs to see if that menu is different? jojorios updated his post #177 (above) with the image from his Pioneer ND-BC6 camera.
  14. Here's the correct procedure to enter the diagnostics menus on the Legacy/Outback PE6xxU1 head units:
  15. Reminder- next WRX Atl dinner meet is this coming Tuesday. Great BBQ. gcbbq.net While the mailing address is in "Roswell" it's actually in NE Cobb.
