WRX pedal upgrade
Is it a performance mod? Hardly, but I'm not sure where else to put this.

Those of us driving lowly non-Spec.B Legacy GTs are stuck with the plain black pedals. I ordered the OEM WRX pedal pads only to find that the accelerator pedal is one solid piece of plastic, from the arm down. There is no rubber pad or separately-pivoting pedal (at least on the '08-'09).

So aside from the WRX clutch & brake pedal pads, I purchased a dead pedal from the dealer for $20. I then found that the 2012 WRX accelerator assembly is identical to the 2009 Legacy assembly. Two 12mm nuts removes the assembly, and the WRX assembly is plug & play.

Are there part numbers/options to do this upgrade to an 05 5EAT car? Not even sure if there is an auto brake pedal cover with this design...

I saw that you can get the pink STI pedal covers, but I would Love to get the alum pedals with black dots. They'd look great after I switch to black carpet.

Just do the research. The 2012 WRX pedal will likely bolt up. There is probably a comparable auto brake cover out there somewhere.

Do you have a part number for the '12 WRX gas pedal?

I do not... I examined some photos from a guy on NASIOC & pulled the trigger. It's an exact match except for the pedal treatment. It is NOT the same part number as the LGT with a different pad, though; the total pad thickness is the same between the two.

The best I can say is that I saw drive-by-wire accelerator pedal assemblies that clearly would not work. Pedal 'arm' angles (lateral) were off. Bolt patterns differed. The '11-'12 (and maybe other year) WRX match up exactly.

EDIT: Here's another one that looks like it will match. It's advertised as a 2007 WRX STi assembly, and has a close-up of the Denso p/n:

Not rubber. Your accelerator pedal is hard molded plastic.

So the 2012 clutch brake and gas pedal bolt right up to the 2009 legacy? I'm very interested in doing this any help would be appreciated.

That is correct. Bolt pattern, size, electrical connections, position, are all the same between my 2009 LGT and the 2012 WRX part I bought. I've been running it this way since I started this thread.

I'm new to these subies and have only had my legacy for a week now. What and where are the electrical connections.

If you have a Legacy, you can open the driver side door, crouch down in the footwell, and have a look. It's drive-by-wire. One multi-conductor electrical plug. Same on the LGT as it is the WRX. It will take more time to open the door and crouch than it will to unplug the connector.
