  1. I'm sorry to disappoint, I haven't done mine yet... I just keep looking at my beautiful dash that fits together so tightly, does not rattle at all, which doesn't have any scratches on it, and thinking of the damage I could possibly do. I'm not too worried about the actual install of the auxillary input, I have a lot of faith in Jazzy, and not to mention my own abilities. I just hate taking apart dashes, those little plastic toggle thingies never quite hold as tightly, and I'm always scared I"m going to break something when I have to pry. Not to mention, I have been pretty busy. I finally got my Lowriders and my bike racks up on the car last weekend. Lowriders are so much better than q towers. However, I need to stand on a stool to get my bike on the car. I'm trying very hard to prevent myself from immediately ordering a hitch and all the good toys that could slide into it. I'm thinking/hoping I might bite the bullet and install the auxillary input this weekend - I had to dig out my cds to listen to in the car, and have been borrowing audio books from the library (I usually go up to DC for the weekend which is a 4 hour drive roundtrip, so I would love to be able to use my iriver.) You guys should aplaud my restraint, I've managed to refrain from typing all the cool things about my car and what it can do, and stay mostly on topic.
  2. Hey, I read all 56 some pages of this forum and the FAQ. I did still ask about the GLI just in case and probably another couple stupid questions while I was at it. I think mine is going to go in this weekend, been busy with work and taxes these last couple weeks. I haven't even read the owner's manual of my car yet. Moss green outbacks covered with pollen streaks are funny looking.
  3. Hey, this is a great thread. I've been reading it all day instead of studying. I just got an 06 outback 2.5i on Sunday and was pretty bummed about the lack of auxillary inputs - but quickly found this thread. In my old ford escort, I have a cd mp3 playing head unit with RCA auxillary inputs, and was dreading the idea of replacing the stereo on the outback given how nice it looks. So I've ordered the Jazzy, the only question I have is over the GLI. I've been using my Iriver in the ford escort without any problems with ground loop - but I use a power inverter & a regular plug to power it because I don't actually have the cigarette lighter adapter) This has always been pretty clean (I used to have a creative nomad with a cigarette plug power thingie and it had lots of engine whine). So my theory's always been that using the power inverter, there's probably something that cleans up the GLI. So before I do the install - do you guys think that the power inverter cleans out the ground loop interference? I'm probably going to use that in the outback for power as well, just 'cause it's damned handy to be able to use regular plugs instead of buying the car specific power cables. And... most of you guys are installing the GLI filters and hiding them behind the stereo, but looking at the one that crutchfield sells - is there any reason that if in the future I decide I want a GLI, I can't just hook it into the end of the cable/plug taht I have stashed in one of those cubby boxes and use it there to clean up the GLI and not bother opening up the dash again? Other than it'll be a little bit ugly?
