  1. Monkiboy lives!! Hope all is well bud it's been a long time since we were hacking parts into Subarus ;-) Getting these old thread notifications brings the memories back.
  2. It's been a lot of years, memory is fuzzy but I didn't think the housings were different between LHD and RHD but maybe so, it may me the pre-facelift mirrors where there was no difference. If you are starting from disassembled mirrors, I would put the mirrors together with the "ideal" in mind, which to me is keep all LHD original stuff, but swap in the power folding, so if you are building up a mirror, use the all the LHD stuff, but with the JDM motor units. Only exceptions would be the right side mirror glass, the JDM is the same as as USDM without the "Objects in mirror..." text so I would use that, and depending on preference if you like a wide angle driver's side can use the JDM left side glass as well.
  3. Alrighty well that wraps that up, great to see this thing get used.
  4. *SOLD* Hi folks, cleaning out the basement again, and found I still had this, it's so cool and discontinued now, I figure someone would want to use it? It's the H5010AG000 STI gauge pack accessory, the proper USDM LHD angled original made by Defi for Subaru. It's missing some parts so you'd have to complete it, but the stuff is available so maybe a great opportunity to pick this up for a great price. I don't really know what is right since it's not complete. How about $300 shipped, in the lower 48, paid with PayPal? (SOLD TO - DadBod) What is included: The gauge/meter unit The power harness for the unit Oil filter sandwich plate with pressure and temp sensors Oil temp/press sensor harness Original instruction manual What is missing: The pressure (boost) sensor with harness - You can buy this still (example: https://www.maperformance.com/products/defi-boost-sensor-pdf00603s) The Legacy mounting and trim panel for the cubby. I believe you can buy the JDM single DIN mount, which will mount these DIN gauges. I know that piece may need a little mod to fit the US Legacy but it looks like it works. (https://avojdm.com/single-din-console-panel-adapter-H0017AG920/) The power harness has been cut from the T that plugs to the radio in the Legacy. You'll need to wire it to battery, ground, Ign and Illumination. The details are in the generic Defi DIN gauge manual (https://www.defi-shop.com/media/din-manual_1307-1_e.pdf) The installation doo-dads like foam tape, zip ties, etc are gone. Any questions, something I missed, let me know...
  5. Well I stand corrected on the swapping of the heating element then!
  6. Hoo boy I have not thought about Subaru mirrors in a long time! I guess I was still subscribed to this thread... So I am wondering if there was a revision or supplier change along the way, either in production, or as replacement parts later. I don't recall that particular heating problem, and I do recall seeing those two types of heating element patterns on various mirrors, either JDM or the USDM. Unfortunately I just tossed out a box of various extra mirror glass a few weeks ago, they would have been mostly the unheated ones that nobody wanted but I could have taken a look at them. I too preferred at least the JDM right side glass, same convex mirror but with out the "objects in mirror..." etching required in the US. I was not a big fan of the convex JDM left side mirror. FYI This is typical JDM they use convex (wide angle) glass on both sides. US requires flat glass for the driver, and wide angle on the pass side with the requisite warning. The Subaru mirrors don't deal with the LHD to RHD orientation the way many other cars do. The typical way is the mirror mount ("triangle" base) angles the mirror body different on each side, and then opposite for the other orientation. Even my new Volvo works this way, much to the chagrin of the symmetry loving owners ha. On the Subaru the mirrors are at the same angle, and there are spacers on the motor units, that hold them at different angles for LHD vs RHD. Once you've taken off the mirror glass, you have exposed the screws that hold the motor units. IIRC you can get to all the screws there and pull out the motor unit. There should be a plug on the back and you could swap the motor units from your original LHD mirrors in there, so you are converted to the proper angles. There is also a little trim piece on the inner side of whichever mirror is the passenger's side, would be the right on the LHD, that fills the gap on the left side as the mirror is typically adjusted. In true cost savings action, this trim is not on whatever is the "driver's side" mirror for each respective setup. You could also swap that trim strip from your original pass side mirror if you care. I can't recall how you get to that screw, I think you need to take the mirror cap off and unscrew a single screw from the back side to remove that. With the glass off you should be able to release the cap without further disassembling the mirror. The cap clips are hard to work with and you need to be careful not to break them or crack the paint on the cap but otherwise easy to do. The heating element is fused to the glass. It's like asking to swap your rear defogger grid to a new window, that ain't going to happen ;-) Hope that helps!
  7. Sold the K2 Winkers and Mirror repair kit. That was quick, glad they will go to some people who need them!
  8. *ALL SOLD* Cleaning out the basement, Subarus are long gone, got some old stuff to see if someone can use. Prices are shipped to the lower 48. It's been years but I should have good feedback, same great buying experience ;-) 3.) *SOLD* Drop Engineering black chrome security lugs. M12x1.25. Brand new, in the package with tool. $30 1. )*SOLD* JDM power folding "mirror repair kit" - these are brand new units, you can use these to convert your mirrors to power folding. These are wired for heat and signals (05-07 type). Includes JDM folding switch $125 2.) *SOLD*K2 "Winkers" LED twin-tube signals. Brand new in box. These are I think discontinued, Japanese market parts. They fit the "facelift" 08-09 signals, plug-n-play. $50 Pics below!
  9. Those bushings are a rubber insulated pillow-ball and are physically larger than the previous bushings. They only fit in the wider track 11-14 STI arm.
  10. Understood about the differences, we are using the same term "base". It's not necessarily "correct" to do it any particular way they are just different ways to handle the difference in LHD and RHD adjustment range. Older vehicles like my 01 Lexus tend to be the same way as the old Impreza, the angle of the base is different, though a direct bolt on to swap bases in the case of Toyota which made it easy. The newer style tend to mean you have to take the whole mirror apart and build it back up as a LHD folding mirror with some parts from each. I do wonder if it is a cost thing that would make them change they way they handle L vs RHD, or did they change because the styling people couldn't handle having side mirrors at different angles. My passenger mirror folds in quicker than the driver's on my Lexus due to the angle difference and thus lesser distance traveled, and that just won't do LOL.
  11. That must be a 07-earlier STI you put mirrors on. No the LGT does not work that way, the bases are the same LHD to RHD. On the 05-07 mirrors the entire mirror is the same except for the adjuster motors, the LHD vs RHD ones have different spacing that mount them at different angles. The 08-09 mirrors, have the same differing angles of the adjuster motors, as well as the housings are slightly different shape left to right, and opposite on the RHD versions. The picture below illustrates that. Its fairly subtle but very obvious when you take them apart. The bases are exactly the same between LHD and RHD in all cases.
  12. Picture below. It should look the same as the stock one, same voids. Give it a poke with your finger it should have almost no give, the stock one is rather spongy. That is the key, the rubber is the same shape but super firm. The earlier post you quoted was talking about the frontward bushing which does differ from the stock one in shape. The rearward one looks like this, picture taken from my SpecB arm with Group-N bushing.
  13. Yup, you got it! All the bushing are the same shape, I think that is due to the economy of scale, they basically make the Group N stuff cheaply becuase they put the firmest rubber they can through a production mold. As such they are the same shape, the STI (actually all Impreza) bushings are a little firmer than the Legacy one. And the Group N one, it is like a rock.
  14. Part number is ST20204ZR000. I don't think you will be able to get these from your local dealer it is not a US part. You have to go to Rallispec, Japanparts etc getting them from JDM land. They won't be cheap, and it is a small bushing so the effect is very small compared to the large rearward bushing. Buy them only if you just can't live with not going all the way and doing both LCA bushings cost be damned.
  15. Yes you can replace just the bushing. You can also use the 2008 impreza part which is the same but slightly stiffer the cost on both is low. The shop you go to just needs the tools and press to replace the bushings in the arm.
