  1. RESOLUTION: Found a cdrom that will work with mini cd. Drivers installed, port functional Loaded free SSM Ecu reset Tcu reset memory 1 No more idiot lights (for now)
  2. Hi folks, I've been building these kits and selling on ebay since about the time that BarmanBean stopped doing so. I have recently opened www.bulletproofme.net to get away from ebay's awful new policies and to create a more accessible way for lgt folks to get their kits. I have been running one of these on my oem tmic at stage 2 since about 2017 and it works like a charm. I'm currently working something out with SBT for vendor status and figured I'd put this up in case anyone is looking for an easy way out.
  3. RESOLVED While taking a drive yesterday in my 07 OBXT 5eat with the family all of the idiot lights started flashing, my AP3 reads 3 transmission codes (which I cannot recall the #s at the time). The access port does not manage transmission ecu function at all. I've had this exact problem 2 years ago, I went thru the usual suspects and ended up taking it to my mechanic. All he had to do was reset transmission ecu. Trans fluid is good, everything including transmission seems to be running wonderfully, but the idiot lights won't go off (tcu codes) and I can't switch to S# or hit cruise. I now need to learn how to fix this myself. I have the KKL VAG-COM for 409.1 as suggested here and a copy of free ssm v.1.2.5 but the cable's drivers won't load. It came with a mini cd but I do not have a cd rom that can play it. I've checked for drivers online but nothing I find is working on this box. Can anyone help me with this? I'm on Windows 7. Thanks and Happy Good Friday everyone!
  4. You shouldn't need new pins unless yours are somehow damaged. Raysbestos or centric should be fine. I used NAPA brand and they worked but I did get a dud set from oreilly or autozone that were too large and wouldn't allow the pin to slide properly so check function before reinstalling your wheels.
  5. Check the caliper pins yourself. You can take a look with basic handtools. It should only take you ~15 minutes per side even if you have little mechanical inclination. Start with the most simple possibily and go down the line. These bushings and grease to put it back together shouldn't cost more than $20 and 30 minutes of your time. The strut mounts are significantly more expensive to replace. Your description sounds exactly like my case.
  6. You might want to check the caliper slide pin bushing on the passenger side. This bushing was swollen and not working right on both sides but only produced a clunk and rattle on driver side for me.
  7. You're not kidding. Ascents are quickly replacing a large number of already bloated 4th gen outbacks in the L.A. area. I laugh every time I hear the ad on the radio "Introducing our largest vehicle EVAR"... Hard to believe that's a selling point... These manufacturers all seem to be in a competition to make the most unappealing, and unenthusiastic vehicles imaginable. I really don't know what the obxt replacement will be for me but I doubt it'll be the unsporty 4thgen outback.
  8. I bought this kit from ebay and it works great. I've had it installed for about 2 years and so far so good. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Subaru-LGT-WRX-FXT-The-Real-Bullet-Proof-Intercooler-TMIC-Upgrade-/332739044634
  9. It would clink and clunk over uneven surfaces and some bumps. KYB 5806 was one of the sets tried. The other sets were for MY00-04 Outback, MY05-06 Outback XT, and MY07 specific Outback XT (I think that's the 5806 iirc). All of these were assembled with new KYB GR2 struts for MY07OBXT and new Rallitek overload stock height springs. Only the OEM didn't clunk. Though the KYB rear shock mounts have been working great.
  10. 07 OBXT Fwiw I ended up installing oem strutmounts after trying 3 different, brand new KYB sets and all of them having an audible suspension clunk after being installed properly on new KYB GR2 struts. The oem for MY2007 felt the same on the bench but when installed the clunk was not there. The KYB rear shock mounts worked fine though.
  11. Hold on, I must have missed something here. I have mevotech LCAs on my OBXT with MOOG balljoints and they fit perfectly. You need the transverse boss (I think it's PN 20216FA000 but you should call Brian at Hueberger to confirm) to make it all play nice together.
  12. Great link but the freessm download link is dead in that post. Can someone please post a good link for freessm?
  13. I was on a beautiful weekend cruise with my family. The car was driving great in 75 degree temps, went up a long grade without any issues, cruising through coastal mountains I gave it some throttle a few times over the 1 hr drive with no problems. Cruised downhill, stoppedd at a stopsign, made a right turn @ ~1.4 grev and the dashboard lights up like the 4th of july with abs, awd, vsc off, flashing cruise, temp pegged all out of nowhere. I scanned codes using the AP, looked for and jiggled anything that appeared loose, reset ecu now p0600 is gone. Drove home 1 hr, car almost seems perfect except these codes and idiot lights. P0700 and P1718 still remain. Battery only a year old and seems good. Only very light corrosion at terminals. Brake lights, turn signals all appear to function normally. Not really sure what to try next. Any input appreciated! 07 OBXT 5eat, 145k miles Pics attached.
  14. As far as front strutmounts are concerned: 2 different KYB p/n were clunking like crazy right out of the box. The rear shockmounts worked perfectly fine but after 3 clunky repeated installs in ~60 miles I had to go OEM for the front strutmounts. Maybe it's different for the '05 but the KYBs almost drove me nuts. Brian @ Heuberger could probably get the OEMs to you for a fair price. And as for bushings: Years ago I used Prothane on my old foxbody mustang with excellent results but I really love the whiteline bushes I installed up front. They are absolutely wonderful and even after 2 weeks I can still feel the difference.
