  1. Will I need the top half of the circuit board that controls the stock radio if I were to do this myself ? Can I just cut the circuit board in half and keep the bottom half in tact and solder all appropriate connections ? Or is this sheer ignorance speaking, for I hvaen't ventured around my radio just because it looks quite dangerous behind the bezel....
  2. Hello HCA !

I was wondering if you guys are making any more double din bezels for the legacy ?

If not is there any website that I can purchase a bezel along with circuit board etc. ?

  3. Rusty - Sorry for the confusion. We started with one mod: our own bezel/hvac mod. Since discovery of the JDM bezel, we tried to make it work in a USDM car. At the same time, we were also looking into adding a pre-amp into the factory headunit and eliminate the factory EQ curves (really want LGT owners want) and aid the section of users that didnt want to pay $950. Since we got limited results from the JDM bezel, and discontinuing our custom built bezel, we have switched gears to manufacturing of our bezel to heavily cut down on costs and labor. So, instead of offering a Factory Upgrade, a modded JDM bezel, or our own custom bezel, we are looking into having the whole mod manufactured.. possibly even by a well known aftermarket kit manufacturer . Hope that makes sense. We can definately use your help, regardless where you are at. I will be in touch. mrg - We are not going to hold to any timeframe. Hang on to hope.. we got a long road ahead of us. eb - You can definately trim that out much tigher, giving a more integrated look. On top of that, you can sand that abs smooth, and Ill teach ya a little trick to polish the abs to that Japanese black look. Spawn - Oh yes. With as much time needed to create our bezel/hvac mod, it was time for us to start looking into manufacturing. We are going back through our mod and working with a manufacturing company to bring our mod at a much more affordable price. I have various meetings in the next few months to pan things out. We need LGT's help! We are looking for an AutoCAD genius. Give us a call! Thanks, Rich @ HCA 303.587.1239
  4. Spawn - Relocating like that is a possibility, but the cabling involved would have us worried for overall reliability. A few ideas were tossed around on different ways to outboard the hvac controller, leaving tons of space on the bezel for a double din and gauges. Relocationg into the center console is possible. It would start with someone local wanting it and having us develope the part. We relocate the hvac controller on older Audi's like that. CT - If the bezel/hvac mod gets produced, at a reasonable price, we will no longer need the factory upgrade. Although it is still being looked at, we have found a few pre-amps that will do everything we want it to. If pricing on that unit is not considerably less than the hvac/bezel mod, it will not be built. Our next step is trying to get a new controller developed and much much smaller. Not only will we not have to cut the circuit board at all, the mod will be much smaller and not have any additional boxes to be installed. Essentially, our goal is to make it the size of the JDM hvac controller, for USDM cars. Thanks, Rich @ HCA
  5. Yes you are correct about the JDM piece. But we ARE NOT stopping the developement of the hvac/bezel mod and possibly continue on with the factory upgrade. With some of the ideas thrown around, the hvac/bezel mod will become a kit manufactured, instead of custom, hand built. We are trying our best. If you can help with development, please step forward and lend a hand. We are not engineerers by any means. I do not see us as failing, but definately learning more about an electronic component, noone knows about. Thanks, Rich @ HCA
  6. That does look great! Good work. I have many asking for the cubby mount for a double din and screen. Whats the price on that factory nav piece? Thanks, Rich @ HCA
  7. Rusty - Ah then yes your limited would fall under LGT. Yanno, its hard to say what will become of this project. The time we thought we would have had early this year, turned out being a lot of work and a lot of issues internally. And now the show car. Its been one bumpy first year but we are certain we will get to every project in a reasonable amount of time. tdoggy - Ill see what I can do about getting them produced for us. Although our primary focus will be the JDM bezel. I will have plenty of time during the Audi build to find a company that can manufacturer them to our pecifications. Will keep you updated. fweasels cubby looks great. There is another floating around with a AVIC-Z1. And I want to say, someone was trying to put in a DNX8120 as well, but Im not sure who. Thanks, Rich @ HCA
  8. Same with the bezel/hvac setup. They were specifically manufactured for a RHD, which has a slight angle towards their drivers. Hence the panel sits tweaked, with one side a bit in, and one side a bit out. Eriks and others that modded the stock panel had much better results (whether cubby or nav panels). Although the labor is somewhat intensive, getting the bracketry right and alignment of the radio is a pain. I wonder what it would look like to fill the center and cut out the DD opening.. Rich @ HCA
  9. Rusty - LGT = Auto climate, 2.5i = manual, so yes you are correct. Being we will have limited time while building the show car, we have stopped LGT modifications as it is very time consuming. The 2.5i kits can be made in a day or so. It was said, over and over, we will build it if you want it (cubby location). Its not simple to fab the bezel and bracket without the car here. We would much rather have the car and install/mod here, but obviously that wont work. Regardless, it can be had, with a price tag a little bit higher than the AVO (custom vs manufactured) (would be modeled in a test vehicle, so final fitment would be up to you). tmilliard - Yes there is, but it only features a single din with pocket. We mod them into double din openings and package a whole kit for 2.5i owners; DD bezel, harness, antenna adaptor and shipping to you for $250. whobaru is right, there are many that have custom fabbed theirs in or used the JDM piece, for the cubby location. Well before anyone cut the faceplate, many others were attacking the cubby location (Erik installed a DD in that location well before we opened this shop). Levish - Hes talking about the cubby location and not the radio. There used to be a JDM piece that replaced the cubby and offered a double din fitment. Many others have custom fabbed theirs with the stock piece or Spec B nav piece as coxx has mentioned. We hope to have that simple solution soon. We will see what happens Thanks, Rich @ HCA
  10. Where in CA are you? Granted I wont be back there till May 09 but if you still need it I could probably stop by for a few days. Also, if you think of anything you need from japan, I can try to find it(I am stationed in Northern japan, hence why I wont be back till may) Thanks, keep up the good work!!
  11. For anyone interested, we have a 07 for sale here http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90443 And yes Tristan is correct - unless its used, you will not be able to buy it from the dealer (retail or wholesale). Thanks! Rich @ HCA
  12. There was at one point a kit. Tdogg already did the research on it. Its unavailable. Either not being imported or discontinued. We can make that bezel to fit that upper location. The difficulty is we do not have a LGT here to build off of. The clearance behind the cubby is extremely limited. As said to Tdogg, it can be built if we plan it all correctly (having a tester here for a few days and being able to make a mold and brackets to mount the radio). Please contact us for further details. To add to your list ean, I would look into the Audiocontrol DQL8 as well. Its features are super extensive and also supports USB tuning. John - $950 is the bezel/hvac mod: Our own mod. The JDM mod will be less (uses JDM controller as a base and modified by us). FYI - Japanparts is not moving on their price. Its $300 regardless. Sorry havent kept up in this thread. Been super busy getting everyones projects home. Thanks, Rich @ HCA
  13. Sorry. My car is out of commission at the moment.
  14. hey bro, would you have time today or tomorrow? Anytime if possible.

    Thanks han!

    Rich @ HCA

  15. tdogg - Was already considered. Let me know what kind of screen and when you want it done. Only a week or so wait for that mod. Do it now, or do it later. Same price either way. Thanks, Rich @ HCA
