  1. There's two pictures here. With the truck in the background is stock and the pic without the truck is on the Koni LGT suspension. The OBXT is too heavy for LGT springs and you'll be sitting pretty low and hitting the bump stops often using them. The OBXT/LGT mounts are the same.
  2. The ride is very good. It's stiffer than stock because the OBXT springs are compressed a bit more on the shorter LGT strut body but it's not harsh and cornering is much more stable. For me a 1/2" spacer (made from a poly food cutting board) evened out the ride height.
  3. If you used the LGT sedan rear springs they will be too soft for the heavier OBXT wagon. I used the original OBXT springs all the way around and a 1/2" spacer in the rear to even it all out. http://dl.dropbox.com/s/ahh25wztxua1p23/wintermode.jpg If you cut the bump stops rather than replacing them with the proper LGT version then you have lost the progressive bump dampening of the cone shape of the stopper. It's now more like a flat hard rubber stopper and it probably bangs when the soft spring compresses quickly into it.
  4. Are you referring to the LGT/Koni setup or my old BC Racing coilovers (post #59)?
  5. I suppose you could. What would you do up front though? Post #54 has the OEM specs.
  6. As stated, I have OEM LGT suspension. I put Koni inserts in them but otherwise they are stock LGT. The yellow colour is a feature of the previous owner of the stocks (he painted them).
  7. Looks like the same clearance I get for the same tire size and offset with the LGT swap on my OBXT. Pictures are a few pages back post #151.
  8. Why would you want a larger diameter tire on a DD? This will through the speedo off. 245/45-18 is the same diameter as the stock 225/55-17 on the OBXT and it fits without issue when mounted on a wheel with the correct offset.
  9. Yes as I have the original OBXT springs in there not LGT springs which are softer. If you haul around adults or gear or pull a trailer often then you could put a 1/2" spacer in the rear for a little extra ride height which will also keep you off the bump stops. I was just referring to the few posts about putting Koni in OBXT bodies. Nothing to do with a full LGT swap.
  10. In the thread I linked, #25... Here's a link to the Koni instructions. As mentioned though, you will have problems at the rear as the Koni rears are complete struts replacements. A saggy butt spacer will need to really long, a matter of inches.
  11. Just as an FYI, I had BC coilovers on my OBXT. I used the model spec'd for a LGT. I had no problem reaching a decent ride height with them. But in doing so left only a few inches of travel which does not work well on public roads. When I switched to the LGT OEM suspension with the Koni inserts I found the stock LGT spring rate to soft or the spring too short. So I removed them and put the OBXT stock springs in. So what I have now is LGT bodies, Koni inserts and OBXT springs. This is the best setup I've tried on my car.
  12. These tires are spec'd for mounting on 7.5" as the minimum wheel width. I snapped some pictures for you so you can see the clearances. With stock OBXT suspension you will have more tire height to spring perch clearance. Even an 8" or 8.5" wheel with the proper offset would still clear as the tire is wider than the wheel as you can see. What I suggest is that you find a tire shop willing to order in your chosen wheel and test fit it for you at no cost. That is what I did, because of my brakes and the shop could return the wheels to the supplier if they didn't fit and were not mounted. 13. I have 245/45-18 tires on 18x7.5 wheels with a +45mm offset. My OBXT is held up by Koni insert LGT suspension. The wheels I have clear Brembo calipers. No rubbing anywhere. The tire's thread width is 8.5" and the section width is 9.6".
  14. I've have a couple of vag-com cables that EcuFlash recognizes but will not read/write the ECU with. I also have a couple of vag-com that do work too. The difference between the working and non-working cables seems to be the FTDI chip that the cable is built with. I speculate that EcuFlash does not work with all versions of FTDI chips. It's hard to know this ahead of time when ordering one from a seller. Your best bet is to use the Openport 2.0.
