  1. checking in, @210,000 re-did heads & valves, added IPT valve body, and replace BNR16G with BNR16G. Looking to upgrade fuel system. Anxious to see a Cobb kit.
  2. @ cold-high idle, the a bit of a thump. WOT shifts feel a lot better-solid and lot less lag time, around town normal driving is no different. I had my old VB pulled. A large ziplock and double box shipped to IPT. 3 days later it was returned to shop. maybe I'm nutty, but spring should be greedy IC, new fuel pump & bigger injectors & new tune. $3800 bodywork, steel replacements in rear fenders, paint less repair of door ding, replace rear door handle due to inop, paint side mirror caps & hood scoop, replace front bumper cover due to scuffs and cracks, add new chin spoiler, add used front spats. I need to search for pic of rust. Also added one set chinessium sticker
  3. Replaced head gaskets due to slow leak on coolant. Rust in rear fenders has also been repaired, front fenders have no rust. While in service I added the IPT valve body rebuild. While engine apart, I replace all belts, rubber items , water pump, motor mount..etc. Short block was inspected and did not need any work. Heads were also machined. Engine back together and running stronger then ever.
  4. 2005 with 204,000 original engine & drive train, 3rd turbo (now BNR) et tu on e-Brake, 26001AG07A Hand Brake lever. replacement is easy, list price is $120 but sometimes you can find a deal, I got mine for $72
  5. Your welcome Gearhead, We got to keep the best designed Subaru wagon operational and visible to public.
  6. Sept 2015 my 2005 Lgt Wagon had same wiper studder, [and could move it back to resting stop manually]. It was the motor, 86510AG15B, ~$149 parts. {many years prior I had wires in the hatch harness fray. Took out lisc. lamp and one turn signal.}
  7. Just completed 200,000 miles. put in $1,300 of service, and runs sooo smooth & still put on power. 1) occasional P0303: Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected-new coil; 2)timing belts & tensioners-Continental kit; 3) Water pump-oem 4) 172 degree thermostat & coolant 5) AMS oil & filter; 6) 5EAT trans fluid, 7) fluid in both Diffs; 8) rotate summer tires-Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3 tires 240/40/r17 on after market 17x7.5 rims. As side note: 4 mos ago had upper radiator hose replace due to leak. Temp gauge on dash indicated normal position (a little below 9 o'clock), but radiator fans came on too often. Torque ODM tool read temps as 200-215 F. I had tech check it, re-burp, avg temp was 200-210. I bought burp kit, re-burped again for 1 hr.,avg temp 197-208. After 200k service avg temp is now 183-197! (yeah) Sometime temp sits at 178-180. Dash idiot gauge looks no different. Radiator fans hardly ever turn on -only when stuck in traffic & outdoor temps in 90's. This is my second Legacy Wagon to purchase new and take over 200k mi with factory motor. The 1990 was disposed at 233,000 -rust took over the body.
  8. @181,000 Subie dealer showed me the sludge in the oil . I had been using Valvoline Synthetic , and 3,500 mile old changes as routine. I agreed to the oil system flush the dealer recommended. Now at 195,000 and switch over to Royal Purple, only because they have been sponsor to Rally-America.com series. I have a feeling that sludge is a normal occurrence not related to oil brand or change interval. I had concerns about performing a oil flush, but dealer convinced me it a-ok, and would warranty any engine issues that resulted. I don't baby my motor. Did four drag strip runs since the flush. My driving routine has shifted. Less 45 minute commutes, and more ~8 hour highway trips @80 , and quite a few WOT. Engine consumes about 1 qt oil between oil changes. Next oil change I am pulling 2 oil samples and sending to two different labs. I am curious on the results reports and will share. PS et tu on Radiator end cap crack on top @ 167,000, replaced with OEM. 5EAT tranny.
  9. 194k. BNR16g, Cobb dnw pipe, SPT exhaust and CAI. Upper radiator hose failed 2k ago. Temps were bouncing up to 226 after local mechanic did replacement. Re-burp indicated little bubbles still occurring 15 mins after reaching operating temp ~203. Mechanic said head gasket may be beginning to fail. Monitoring for last 1.5k, little temp swings, and all looks good for now. Coolant holding tank is not showing any change in level. I am glad I saved some old Torque screen shots. My temp range is same as years ago. (dash gauge stays a little below 9 o'clock position.) dilemma: go for oe motor longevity, or rebuild prior to failure with increased HP/tourque, constraint is 5EAT
  10. Thanks for the feedback, confirms my suspicions. Oil consumption is about +.5 qt per 1,000 miles. Cars.101.com site lists tests a new stock 5EAT GT sedan as Edmunds 93 MPH in 1/4 mile. modern racer 98 MPH Car & Driver 96 MPH I have Limited wagon with the large & heavy sun roof. Seems my add-ons are barely off setting the old age & and weight. I would like to get an AMSperformance.com stage2 rebuild (+5EAT valve body) before next summer. Spring bonus will define my budget.
  11. 05 Lgt wagon 5EAT. SPT CAI & catback, Cobb down pipe, BNR 16G turbo, balance is stock. My boss's viper club rented Rte 41 Drag Strip (IN.) I was invited to attend. 1st time I (legally) drag raced my wagon. This was Not a competition. In my 1st run I was randomly paired against Porsche 918 , yup probably the worlds fastest car. Times: 10.4334 sec / 142.02 MPH; 16.2830/92.86 MPH I did 5 runs all about the same (91-94 mph), my best reaction time as .4662 sec. I'm very happy with my daily driver.
  12. 05' Lgt 5Eat Wagon-160k miles, new driver door handle & inside lever assembly. Also 1st time ever Winter Tires- Bizzaks (Jan4). I will never use All Seasons again in a snowy winter,there is such a big improvement. ps BNR 16G rocks!
  13. concur: got P0011 , had banjo screens pulled,and also found oil leak from turbo housing during inspection.
  14. subsc 144k 05 5eat LTD wagon: CobbAP, SPt intake & exhaust, P&L Motorsport Jorge' tune at 34k. STI rear sway & whiteline front sway, kartboy end link @40k. Brakes are Hawk, DBA42650 w/ ss line since 71k, inspect recently and still holding up. Needed transverse link bushing at 80k, timing belts @ 102k, OEM turbo replaced @110k (housing was leaking oil). P&L Dyno check, car still rocking 228 whp. 1st wheel bearing was replaced at 2k, each corner done twice so far. Now I am running a 3Yr warranty after market bearing sets since 134k. tires: Pirelli PZero M+S at 20k doto sidewall bubbles in OEM crap tires Bridgestone RE960AS pole positon at 64k do to tread life, onset of winter Continental Extreme Contact DWS at 119k " " DWS are the best for me. Sept-11 Upgraded to 2008 Stereo w/ MP3, aux out, & WOW. BIG improvement in Audio via my droid (vs. Bluetooth to FM adapter) Tried the "SPt Lower Chassis Brace" 2 mos ago. clearance to lower heat fins was tight. Adjusted many times to get rid of clunks & thunks, removed completely after 30 days. If I hit the lottery or other windfall want to upgrade to Cosworth 402, but detune to a safer 350 h/p. (and corresponding beef up on 5eat). I will keep this car forever. Prior was 1990 4eat Legacy LS Wagon, rust, bad air suspension, & loss of 1st gear took it way from me at 13yrs, 235k mi. Cheap 10$ Wagner or Sylvania H7 headlight bulb last the longest.
