How to not end up with a dead battery in a Legacy: Replace the OEM Subaru battery ASAP. The original is undersized. The OEM replacement isn't much better. If you leave your car outside when it's 0 degrees for 12+ hours either battery could leave you stranded. Get the largest battery that will fit.
