  1. I had an early appointment this morning on the far side of town and we had just had about a foot of snow over the last few days so it was pretty heavy sloggin' in traffic. I obviously hit a lump of hard snow or ice with the front right wheel....no damage but when I got home I noticed that there was a plastic flap hanging down in front of the wheel. Apparently the little flap took the impact and blew out 3 of it's 4 poppits and was just dangling from the one left...the 4th one was gone somewhere in the snow. I put the car up on my ramps and went to work....but since I didn't have any poppits I had to put the flap back in place using just the number 1,2 and 3 poppits (I hate those things at the best of times!!) It was in place but I could easily tell it was not very secure. Grabbed my cordless drill and put a small hole in the plastic shield that the flap is supposed to mount onto then zip tied it in place securely........the every man's ultimate fix it item.... It was just slightly below freezing this morning Just a little "Mid Winter Ghetto Engineering"
  2. MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all......drive safe and enjoy the season. Wishing all of you a very Happy and Prosperous 2024.
  3. That time of year again...today was wash and prep for winter....Summer Michelin's off and Nokians on ......just bought a new snow blower too.....Colour me READY!!
  4. Nice job....cars always feel nicer when they are clean and shiny!
  5. Nice lookin' ride Sudz.....the bronze looks great with the white!!
  6. Sweet!! Give us some details....how did you do it all and how long did it take ?
  7. In my opinion the Legacy platform is an easy one to love "Long term" I have been driving Legacy's since 2006 and have loved them all 2006 Legacy GT 5MT.......2012 Legacy 2.5i CVT Limited.......2013 Legacy 3.6R Limited .....and still going strong. I would probably buy another one but both 5th Gens have such low mileage I just can't see the point....total miles from both of then is about 85,000 KM....that is about 51,000 Miles (Combined) Scooby Too drives the silver 2012 and my TBM 2013 is still pristine. I should have added that there were 2 Imprezas, a WRX and an STi mixed in there too! But this is a Legacy forum
  8. Just found this solution to my problem........Made by a company called "Beehive"...costs $14.95 in Canada from Canadian Tire stores..... must be available at loads of auto parts stores. This whole thing was sparked by the fact that with only one working power outlet she could not run the dash cam and the Garmin GPS.
  9. Thanks DR123.....that was what I figured too I can say that the socket is clear and appears undamaged but no way to know what may be in the wiring harnesses somewhere. I may get an accessory after market socket and try re-wiring it to a new location that is "Hot" when ever the car is running. The only real reason it seems important at this time is that she runs a dash cam off the power port in the armrest and has to unplug it use her Garmin GPS occasionally. The OEM GPS in the 2012 is beyond useless.
  10. This is on Scooby Too's 2012 Legacy 2.5 Ltd. We have had this problem before and I am stumped now. The cigar lighter in the center dash (In front of the gear shift) is dead......the Armrest power port is all good. I know that the cigar lighter is fuse #20 (10 amps) and when I checked it was blown....so I popped in a fresh one and poof! It blew immediately ,,,,, Hmmmm so I did it again with a 20 amp fuse....poof. Same result so there must be another issue affecting that circuit. Any ideas on where to start looking?? HELP!! BTW............ I found a YouTube video on this very issue....The guy shows how to locate the fuse box and the #20 fuse and how to change it......when he starts the car (2011 Legacy) poof it also blows the new fuse. He finishes by saying "Now you know where that fuse is"
