  1. Welcome, Concerning brakes, I was very happy with the upgrade of stainless steel brake lines and changing the pads all the way around with Hawk HPS. The core brakes are good, the pads are just really bad. The other big improvement I made with braking performance, is tires. I only put about 8K miles per year so I end up using Kumho ECSTA SPT. I only get about 25K miles out of them, but that is over three years. Good trade off for me. Tires were the overall best improvement.
  2. Definitely one of the best threads here. Do you ever get out of the great white north and end up in the South East any? If you ever make it to Atlanta, I would pickup the tab for dinner and some brews to hear some good war stories on this build.
  3. So how was the ride this past Saturday? What roads did you take? I keep telling myself, I am going to show up for one of these drives, but kids or something always gets in the way. As a kid I lived in Robbinsville NC. We always called the road the sea-sick road. Now it is called the dragons-tail. I still hate that road and wont drive on it. I love the Cherohala Skyway though. Great road.
  4. The greatest thread of all time got to page 4. Any updates Frank?
  5. I am going to need a new clutch in the next 10K miles or so, I need my plugs changed now and probably the trany and diff fluids. (The fluids are not a rush as I had them changed about 15K miles ago) I am going to want to put a better turbo, catless up pipe and a better TMIC and go Stage II sometime sooner than later. I have used North Ga Radiator for the last 10 years without a single issue. But I wanted to try a Subaru specific shop. Even now after a couple of days I find it amazing that they could not tighten down the oil drain plug. It just boggles the mind. It is such a fundamental thing. But I will probably give them a second shot. Something not to complicated. Something I can fix if they mess it up.
  6. I spoke to the guys at Allpro this morning and they were taking responsibility and they were honestly sorry that it happened and trying to make amends. I understand that mistakes can happen, but I am still a little ticked off about it. Maybe with a some more time, I will give them another try. I have some bigger work coming up and I want to feel confident about the guys who are going to do the work. Also, it is not leaking anymore so it was only the drain plug.
  7. So I had AllPro do the alignment, Tire change and I had them do an oil change as well. They were nice guys. The guy who did the alignment appeared to know what he was talking about and I think he did a good job. The car feels good now. The bad news is what ever mutant moron idiot who changed my oil is not even capable of putting the oil drain plug back on properly. I am going on a trip to SC tomorrow morning and my wife spotted a big oil spot when she came home. The way I parked, I would not have seen it in the morning. When I went to see what was going on, it turns out I could see threads on the plug. The oil drain plug would have fallen out on my trip and potentially/probably caused damage to my engine. What kind of common idiot cannot even tighten an oil plug back up! I had lost 2 1/2 quarts of oil since Friday.
  8. Thanks I will give them a call
  9. Hi Guys, I live in South Forsyth / Alpharetta Area. I have never had my front end aligned since I had the car. (It never needed it) I recently hit a pot hole and the tires started to wear on one side. My new tires are going to be in this week and I am looking for a good front end alignment place in the area. Any suggestions? I was going to take it to Lanier Wheel and Tire on exit 14 off 400. Also should I make any tweaks from the stock settings? Thanks.
  10. I think it is by far the area in Gwinnett with the large Asian population. Not being racist. There are a lot of great Asian drivers. But when they are bad, they are really bad. I cant tell you how many times I have been almost hit by some lady in minivan.
  11. Hey allpro, Do you guys have a website? What do you specialize in? Are you Subaru only?
  12. Hi VTGT, I am getting about 22K miles out of my Kumho ECSTA ASX. Just a note though, if you go with these, higher pressure is better. I was only marginally happy with them until I cranked up the pressure to 37 front and 35 rear. It is like a different tire with the high pressure. But they will scare the crap out of you if the temp gets below 40.
  13. Sorry, I missed two pieces of information. They are 225 45 17. Also, these tires don't do anything abrupt in hard corners. Going into a corner to fast and they are very forgiving. BUT. These things will scare the crap out of your if the temperature is below 40. On more than one occasion. I have had the rear try to pass the front on a curve. Thank god for 4 wheel drive. Just kept my foot in it and let the front end pull through the curve. But what gets me is you get used to hitting a curve or pulling out of a street at a certain speed or acceleration. I would say 70% of limit normally and these will just break loose and cause all sorts of excitement for your morning commute in the cold. Spring and summer are here now so nothing to worry about for a while.
