  1. **Just FYI to anyone who doesn't already know** Our stock peak boost levels are between 8 and 12 psi depending on what gear we're in. This video [link below] shows that even at 8 psi our stock BPV is already leaking. Not the biggest deal if your car is stock, but Cobb stage 1 boost targets are 15 psi for 91 octane fuel and 17psi for 93 octane fuel. At 15 psi our stock BPV is leaking like a sieve, as seen around 1:15 onwards in the video. What this means is that our turbo has to work that much harder to maintain the same pressure leading to higher temperatures, premature turbo life and other nasty business some of the more knowledgeable people could explain.
  2. I was going to send you a PM asking for a sound clip but I think a lot of other people here would also like to hear it haha.
  3. Ok now THIS is good info. Ideally I wanted full recirc so it performs 100% like it was designed to and the only reason I wanted a partial vent to atmosphere was for the sound. If the GFB Mach 2 has a much louder sound than stock even on full recirc then I might get that over the Turbosmart Dual Port. Anyone have any sound clips of GFB Mach 2?
  4. Unless it's noticeably louder than stock I would just do the [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004PPXGH0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_2&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER]Turbosmart Kompact[/ame] and save $164 over the GFB adjustable one if I was to do full recirc. How much louder is your GFB set to full recirc than the Stock BPV?
  5. Still torn between two BPV hybrids: I want a hybrid BPV that partially vents to atmosphere to get more sound. I can either get the [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004PQ164O?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_act_title_1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER]Turbosmart Dualport[/ame] that's 50/50 recric/vent for $175 or the GFB TMS Respons Adjustable BPV for $280. I'd rather be on the safe side with the GFB BPV that I can customize the vent/recirc ratio.... but in all likelihood I'd have it at 60%recirc/40%vent. Is paying $100 more for the GFB worth it to put only 10% more air recirculating?
  6. Thanks for the info. Will I need to get a protune with this BPV or no? If not, I think the following is what I'll do: Upgrade Round 1: Whiteline 20mm RSB, Cobb AP stage 1, Turbosmart Kompact BPV Upgrade Round 2: Invidia DP, Borla Catback, cobb stage 2 Upgrade Round 3: Aftermarket clutch, maybe more suspension upgrades
  7. From what I saw on their website the charge pipe alone is $180 and then I'd still need to find a BPV. That route would cost me $300+ vs. just buying a Turbosmart Kompact plumb-back for $150. Half the cost and gets the job done. http://www.turbosmartdirect.com/Product-Categories/Kompact-Series/Kompact-Plumb-Back-34mm.html Again, I'm new to this so am I missing something?
  8. Ah, roger that. Thanks! So the BPV in the link below will sound the exact same as the stock BPV but is better suited to cobb stage 2 tunes, correct? (read in another post that the stock BPV isn't up to the task of the higher boost pressure.... or somehting along those lines) http://www.rallysportdirect.com/Go-Fast-Bits-T9133-Mach-2-TMS-Recirculating-Diverter-Valve
  9. I'm confused, to my (limited) knowledge of BPV vs. BOV, blow off valves vent to atmosphere making that 'chhhhh' sound when you let off the throttle. With my stock LGT right now I still here that sound, yet it seems most people here recommend a full recirc BPV. Do you still get that sound with a full recirc. BPV? I like the idea of a faster spool between shifts but I definitely want to keep the sssssSSSSS-CHHhhh because racecar. Can anyone lend a brother some knowledge on the stock LGT set up and aftermarket recommendations?
  10. So Jumping from the standard diameter downpipe with oem cat to an invidia 3" downipe with a high flow cat won't sound any different? IMO a lot of the exhaust clips on here are too loud for that sleeper car I'm going for. I would hate to pick up clients for work and be embarrassed by an overly loud exhaust. I was hoping the Invidia 3" catted downpipe would provide a slight increase in growl without sounding very modded.
  11. Haha I guess I just assumed that if something suspension-related snaps it'll be bad. New to the whole modding world
  12. Hmm. I could save money if I just throw a new RSB on the stock end links... I'd just hate to be in the middle of nowhere / upper Wisconsin on a road trip throwing the GT around twisties with my buddies and have one break on me. I'll treat the kartboy endlinks as a 'peace of mind' upgrade for $125.
  13. This thread may be old but still awesome! I'm extremely curious to hear a stock/OEM catback with a CATTED downpipe. Thinking about the Invidia catted downpipe with stock exhaust and would love to hear it before purchasing.
  14. My thought was 22 might be a little overkill for my needs, I think 20 is a happy medium. If I go with the 20mm, should I go with a whiteline or '15 WRX bar? I heard the kartboy endlinks only fit in the stiffest setting for the whiteline bar, thus making the 'adjustable' feature useless. Any experience or has anyone heard about this problem? Also, with the WRX RSB, are kartboy endlinks still the way to go? (pic isn't mine, found it somewhere on these forums)
  15. Man that seems like a lot of work for a first mod haha. After reading around a bit more I think I'll throw on a new rear sway bar for starters and see how I like it. Simple, straightforward and doesn't compromise clearance or ride plushness. Should I hunt down a stock '15 WRX RSB or look for an aftermarket one that fits that model?
